So you hate your father that was a fireman? Or do you just hate people who put their life on the line for others.

When one is young, why not get a job, with good hours and tremendous benifits. You can be a fire man and own a Mc Donalds of a Construction business, most all of them have enough time for a side line. After all the pay is great, and puting out fires is fun. Saving lifes, well that is an eago builder. On top of all that, THEY (the personal working for the fire departments) are revered as HEROS. Could there be a better job ?
Protection in the good old boys club. Better then Boy Scouts. One can be a Chief and swear, "SOAP is NOT a CHEMICAL", they (your fellow government employees) will still say you are a genus. An back you all the way past the witness stand. What a good job. One even gets people which out of devotion to duty, THEY WILL LIE FOR ONE ANOTHER...Just the best job in America.
I'm not sure who you know that can work as a medic/firefighter and afford to franchise a McDonalds or own a construction company. Perhaps you should check up and see just how much money medics and firefighters actually make starting out. If you're lucky enough to land a paying job on a department, it's generally paid on call. Medics on rescue (the ones contracted with Metro) make $12 an hour starting. Certainly not enough to buy a McDonalds. And why not try working a 24 hour shift when you run round the clock. Definitely great hours, but you pay a price. As for benefits, paramedics and firefighters get the same benefits as everyone else who has an employer who can afford to offer a decent plan. But they still pay out the ass for it. Especially if they have a family to cover as well.

As for saving lives, maybe it is an ego builder. But it's still something to be proud of. Can you honestly say that if you saved a person's life you would not feel a wee bit better about yourself? On the rare occasion you get called out for a real emergency (not a stubbed toe or some drunk ass fool) it's a pretty good feeling to know you made a difference in someone's time of need. Maybe you should try it some time.

I agree with sour grapes, you sound like a bitter angry person. Did they refuse you based on the psych results? Thank you for giving me the opportunity to angrily stoop to your level.

Yes, FROM Illinois and glad it is in my past. AFD and ARS are both good old boy clubs. Are you people really listening? Is this not the case for all these surrounding departments? ARS needs to give their stuff to the FD. Cross training firefighters to be EMTs and paramedics is best for the community.

You could not pay me enough money to come back to the corrupt state of ILL!(yes, pun intended)

Don't forget the other headlines!!!
Former Antioch High School student charged with sexual abuse.

Former fundraiser for the Antioch Rescue Squad charged with sexual abuse.

Former Piggly Wiggly Customer charged with sexual abuse.

Former Antioch Lions Club volunteer charged with sexual abuse.

If the guy didn't work there for the last 3 years, what's the BFD?

The high school needs to screen their students before they let them attend. They might do something wrong after High School.

The Antioch Rescue Squad needs to screen those raising money on their behalf at the auction/barbeque before they accept the money. They might do something after helping them.

The local businesses need to screen their customers before they let them shop. They may do something naughty after consuming the food they bought at the grocery store.

The Lions Club needs to screen their volunteers before they let them help at events. They may commit a crime later in life.

I'm sorry, I read the article wrong. He didn't work there for 5 years. My mistake. I don't think the Fire Department needs any more bullies ganging up on them. Let them handle their sexual harassment lawsuit and be done with it.

Did the paper forget to mention that THIS guy USED to be on the Antioch Rescue Squad before he was a fire dept member!?!?! Oh, of course not - Obviously someone leaked it to the news sun that he used to be FD department member (what was that 12 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!) in a sad attempt to make the fire department look bad!!!

You people who keep bad mouthing Chief Volling need a life. He is a very kind and caring person who volunteered his whole career to protecting his community. The rescue squad many years ago was led by Tim Osmond who also volunteered his time to protect the town he lived in and was a great leader. Antioch is a huge community, it's time for both departments to combine and work together for the good of the people and stop trying to bad mouth both departments because of a few idiots. It's offensive to the many people on both sides who have given many sleepless nights & days without even getting paid!!!

Hey moderators - This thread should be deleted as it has become a name calling, bullying thread!!!

My thought. What does it matter? If convicted, the guy is an official sleaze. What bearing does any
Of this have on either department?
