Very interesting meeting.
Though Village employees are not thrilled, the rescinding of the budget is in all fairness to allow the new Trustees to have their time to review. Similar to 2 years ago with newly elected Trustees. |

Well it was a very interesting meeting. Ted Poulos turned out to be the sleeze ball everyone expected him to be. Mr big shot how many times do we have to hear about his $85 million dollar budget he's working on. It would seem he spent a couple night sleeping with Pierce before tonights meeting. And how about his sister , she bailed out when she thought she wasn't going to get what she felt was her pay raise. Hell she's overpaid now.Time for wholesale replacements.It seems that the old ruling party still has it's ringer in the crowd. I wonder if they have regular meeting at peirce's or Poulos's house ? Or maybe out at Blarneys Island .

Does anyone know who the older gentleman, over 50ish, heavyset, with gray hair, black shirt, jeans, key chain hanging off belt loop standing/sitting by the back reception desk area was?
Was that a Haley? I'm not talking about Ron H., this guy was much heavier than Ron. Just curious, no other reason. |

Here we go again. Dorothy did the same thing 4 years ago and now Larry was doing the same thing they complained about 4 years ago. So now we get another 4 years of the same crap we had the last 4. Parties trying to get back at each other! We need people not affiliated with either Taso or Haley! Larry sounded an awful lot like Taso did! Does anyone in this town actually notice the crap that just keeps going on or is it that everyone has an agenda for themselves. None of these guys seem to care about this community they just care about there polictical careers. Now we are going to have another Mayor spending their time trying to get back at his rivals instead of helping the people of this town. Maybe someday in the future the people of this community will pay attention to who actually is running and call for new people and actual change.

Same old BS.Now its Larrys turn to be the KING of Antioch HMMMM sounds familier. |

Mark my words, Ted Poulos will freak out at a meeting and may punch someone or get right in their face. He will not be able to control his temper. For a person that is working on a $85 million dollar budget you would think he would want to review the village budget. Ted is just going to be Peirce's PUPPET.

Not true! They drew a line in the sand against the staff last night. Larry never went to any of the staff before putting this on the agenda. It's not about the raises so much as it is about calling the staff liars. Finance Director answered every question and made Larry and the attorney look like idiots and still they got the votes. How sad. Leave the everyday work to the professionals that have been hired. |

Sorry to hear that you felt this is what happened last night. I saw it slightly differently: The Mayor has certain rights under the law and he exercised them with the support of the majority of the vote of the Board. He selected an excellent person in George Sakas to fill his remaining 2 year term as a Trustee. He also brought in a competent and respected law firm that he has confidence in. He also said he was willing to be judged on his choices. There was no arrogance, and while there was some disagreement on the Board by Paulos and Pierce, the vote went through with calm, and a measured and respectful process. Nobody was shut up or steamrolled, and the Mayor showed a respectful strength that was refreshing. Had Hanson selected an old friend or political ally to be the new Trustee, I would have questions. He did not. He selected a brilliant and experienced man who brings a dimension of competence to the Board that gives it further depth and a high potential for long term success serving our needs as taxpayers. I was not surprised with Pierce's opposition. He is part of the old regime which did exactly as it pleased. Now that that regime is gone, he wants to change the rules. Double standard man. But he will contribute, and will likely be a good team member now that the controversy he tried to spark has passed. I was surprised with the demeanor of Paulos. He came across as egotistical, uncooperative, and confrontational. It was pointed out by one of the Trustees that he had asked for the budget to not be approved two weeks ago so he could review it. Then, last night when given the opportunity, he changed his tune - apparently after lobbying by some on Village staff, the Mayor, his employee sister, and God knows who else. Time for clear thinking and a team attitude with him. He was by far the biggest disappointment of the night. I hope he gets his head screwed on and starts working as part of the team. He has great potential, but he got off to a poor start last night in the eyes of many members of the audience that I talked to. I think this Board has great potential for progress and results. Good minds, and people who care about Antioch. I personally am going to afford each and every one of them the opportunity to prove themselves. We will see soon if the changes we need actually happen. Let's hope they truly come together as a team and get the work of this town done. They can, and they should. |

EXACTLY! |
||||
The reason they looked like idiots is because they are the IDIOTPENDENTS |
||||
The reason you look like an idiot is that you exist. Every morning, looking in the mirror, seeing a racist, bigoted, biased, intolerant, marginally literate excuse for a human being - the penultimate idiot. It must be very hard on you. Don't worry about us. In this tough world, you are a refreshing and even entertaining glimpse into what not to be. |
||||
Spoken like a Village employee worried about not getting a raise. Get a grip folks. The economy stinks, revenue is down, expenses are up everywhere. The Village budget cannot be a healthy one. I am all for getting new competent eyes to take another look, even if competent guys like Poulous are apparently more worried about politics and protecting his sisters raise than doing what is right. Get down to business Poulos and the rest of you. Do your jobs. Shake the fat/waste/low productivity out of the budget and get this town on track. You are expected do your job. Shut up, form a team, use your heads, and do it! |

" Poulos for president " President of Venezuela , then he could do there budget.And he would be in good company with Hugo. Then they could both bluster.

What's with Polos? He has a temper and he acted like he was owed something by the board. In 0ffice 15 minutes and acting that way. What will the next 4 years hold?

That would depend on what Pierce and him are told to do.And he wants everyone to know that he's working on a $85 million dollar budget, that was so none of you for get that he is working on a $ 85 million dollar budget. Ain't that a hoot. He also wants his sister the parks director to get a raise, for what I don,t know but he wants it any way. And pierce wants a raise so he can buy a new set of flip-flops just in cacs he needs them. |
|||
I would prefer him to start working on our budget and tell his sister to calm down; after all, he is her boss in a way. |

I felt the board worked very well together last night.
Oppositional points were brought up, discussion followed, and voting took place. The meeting took about 90 minutes and the only item on the agenda that didn't get discussed was the defibrillator, due to National City Banks guy not making an appearance. So, what's the beef? All these comments and analyzations are pretty premature. This meeting was pretty productive and the first step on the right course. |
