Objection to routine 11th-hour reports

I read in one of the local papers that some trustees are objecting to getting handed information late and expected to act on it within two days. I believe that this is wrong. Some people shop for cars with more time to decide. I am sick of our government working this way...it takes time to make an informed opinion, otherwise you are just acting in haste, and we all know how that has turned out. I want the trustees to make an informed vote and to do that you need 2 things. Facts...and time.

They get the information on Friday Just like evey other board in the state but for the IDIOTPENDENTS thats not enough time.Maybe they should "get up to speed" and have Jim Parks explain it to them a little faster.

Gee, that's funny. I called a trustee in Deerfield, okay, it wasn't a trustee, it was the Mayor, and also a trustee in Wheeling and they receive their packets a week in advance of a board meeting...I guess they aren't in Illinois. Again, informed voting = time and correct information. You research for a car, you research for a house,shouldn't your elected officials do the same?

Wow, that shows how stupid you are. You stated EVERY board in the state. I happened to call two, highly sucessful town's officials, and came up with those answers. Not that I had to do that, common sense (something you obviously lack)would tell you that to make an informed decision you need time, which is why most people do research.They do it before making important decisions, like houme buying, car buying, schools to send the kids to, heck, some people even research before buying a dog. Unless of course you just want to make snap decisions, or to get something passed that is wrong for the community, but good for you. Gurnee also gives more time to their board members. Do you want to start calling towns yourself? Try Chicago, Northbrook, Des Plaines, Wilmette. Try Lake Forest. Or try your own, make sure they are at least successful towns. Get back to us with your findings. I already KNOW the answers.

Here are a few websites where you can go to get the phone numbers of Trustees to ask them the question of when thy get informaiton on important voting decisions. That is of course if you get off of your hands and dial a number.

I agree with you. I've been reading Topix.com since October 2007, when the posters were here to gather and pass along information regarding Antioch. There are a couple of posters (one of which also has a Round Lake ISP) who have done nothing but bring up topics to intentionlly defame people of our town, while making totally uncalled comments in other discussions in topics initiated by others. It's a bad reflection of our town to others reading these forums.

Not every election has gone the way I wanted it to either, but at some point, we all have to accept the will of our democracy and move on - ideally in a positive way. Not everyone we did not want in office is a horrible person. I think you are saying the same thing, and I appreciate it.
