I almost could not belive what I was reading in the News-Sun paper this morning. The liquor commission headed by Mayor Larson will hold a hearing tonight on the resturant. The unbelivable part of this is the quote by Larson "It demonstrated a total disregard for the rules". So the question is would this be the same mayor Larson that gave a liquor license to Trustee McCarty while he was a active Antioch trustee which was (total disregard for the rules). Is this the same Mayor Larson who stated (at a public meeting) "I don't look at everything I sign".Having Mayor Larson as the liquor commissioner seems to be total disregard for the rules.

I would love to see how she handles this one. I wonder if she has any political party friends that own a piece of this one. I am wondering something; if one person doesn't need to follow village ordinance, why should anyone? This, THIS is what I posted about when the first mess happened; how do you expect anyone to follow village ordinance when the person giving the license and others that recieve them don't. All bets are off and it sounds to me like yet another potential lawsuit against Antioch. I wonder what the record is for a village being sued during one term?

Oh yes, here was the story from the Daily Herald paper:
Antioch board member's future still up in the air
Author: Corrinne Hess
Date: June 27, 2007
Publication: Daily Herald (Arlington Heights, IL)
Section: News
After a heated debate by Antioch trustees Tuesday that included finger pointing and talk of laws being broken, Robert McCarty's future on the village board still remains unclear.
McCarty's seat has been in question since fellow trustees learned of his possession of a liquor license last week - a violation of the village's ordinance...
My comments:
Now if I remember correctly, A story appeard in one of the local papers and quoted one of the original people involved in the first liquor license issue we had last year as saying something like; we didn't feel it necessary to consult the village ordinance since the state allowed it. I am almost positive I am remembering this correctly; does anyone else have memory of this? If I am wrong, please let me know. Sadly, I don't think I am.

You must remember that since Mayor Larson and Trustee McCarty have the current police chief in their pocket, they just do what ever they want no matter what the rules, laws or ordinances are. Isn't that correct Chief Forster, are you ready to pay all of Trustee McCarty's parking violations this year when he continues to park on the street in front of his house instead of keeping the road clear for the plows ?

Maybe after a hard nights work pouring drinks he can't find his driveway, you know they all look the same.So what you do is park in front and then ring doorbells until someone lets you in.

Petrucci gives up liquor license, folds business
No hearing on after-hours party

November 25, 2008

BY DIANA KUYPER Special to the News-Sun

ANTIOCH -- The owner of Petrucci's Italian Market and Café, 311 Depot St., relinquished his liquor license Monday, avoiding a hearing before the Liquor Commission.

The hearing had been scheduled following an investigation into an after-hours drinking party in September that resulted in an arrest for battery and citations for violating closing hours.

Restaurant owner Ronald Petrucci, 38, of Streamwood told Mayor Dorothy Larson, the village liquor commissioner, that he was permanently closing his business.

"He voluntarily relinquished his license just minutes before the hearing, so there was no reason to hold the hearing," Larson said.

In September, bartender Mark Rambert, 28, of 267 Hickory Lane, was arrested and charged with battery following the after-hours drinking party. He told police it was common practice to pull the shades over the front windows of the bar after closing and invite customers to drink after hours.

Subsequent to the incident, the restaurant, located in a strip mall across from the Metra commuter station, was closed because the village discovered that Petrucci had done extensive remodeling without building permits.

"The business has been closed for awhile because of building code violations and life safety issues," Larson said.

What a shame. Another restaurant in that strip mall closes.

I do believe that this issue with Petrucci's was a completely different issue that that of McCarty's. The restaurant had multiple code violations and were running a restaurant / bar without proper Dept. of Heath sign offs and permits. They didn't really even have a "bar" there. All of the liquor was stored on a table, kind of like how you would set up your Super Bowl party. The kitchen had no vent over the cooking equipment. All of the burn off went straight into the restaurant. It was terrible.

I agree with the well wishes of the above poster Mark, but the story is clearly reproduced from the paper News Sun, posted almost three years ago, with a single line of comment at the bottom of the unfortunate closing of yet another restaurant in that strip mall and not on you personally. I read it a couple of times to verify. There is even an attribute to the paper and story title in the first few lines.

The only comment made by the poster, using the original story under fair use for commentary purpose was: What a shame. Another restaurant in that strip mall closes.

Regards and best wishes,
