Not impressed, nobody is hardly there, boring, over priced beer and liquor. The bar staff is inexperienced. Music is lame. This place won't last, also bad location.

Great place!. The owners seem to be good people pursuing their dream. I think all of Antioch should support them as part of the community and share some of your going out dollars with folks who have made a commitment to our town. If there is something there you don't like or feel needs improvement - do as I do wherever I go, and let those in charge know.

It is interesting that two different people with a Naperville ISP commented negatively on this before me. Not impossible I guess, but more likely one person - maybe a competitor in Antioch.

isp have nothing to do with where you live...for instance...if you use att you will come up with an indiana address...or comcast users show a Round Lake address...if you are going to use a computer, you should understand how it works...as for the topic...just what Antioch needs...another bar.

The Location under your screen name doesn't mean a thing. Mine randomizes all the time. I think it has to do with whatever tower your IP wants to use at the moment.

I'm sure the owners are nice. No business stays open long if the owner and staff are jerks.
But i don't think we really need another tavern.
A nice reasonably price romantic style restaurant would be nice. Or a Benihana type of restaurant would be nice in this area. http://www.benihana.com/

Thanks for the lecture on ISP's. I understand how they work without your fine advice. My point was and is that two posts within a short period from somebody with a Sc hamburg ISP are unusual in Antioch. My ISP is in Round Lake. Some are in Machinery and Trevor. Very, very few are from distant areas. Not impossible, of course, but I would have believed it was two different people if the posts had come from a more local ISP where the number of users are greater.

As far as the location of the restaurant, it is not the best, but they can survive there with a superior product. Further, I do not revel in criticizing people who are trying to make a go of it. ANY new business ion Antioch is a plus for all of us because of tax revenue. Several of you apparently do not get that fact,as well as thew fact that helping them with recommendations rather than publicly and anonymously beating on them would be a far more civil and productive course to pursue. That is, of course, if you are civil or have any capability whatsoever of being so.

The ISP info wasn't a lecture it was a fact.
I don't live anywhere near where it says under my name.
Never once is ever even close.

I didn't criticize the bar or beat up on the owners. In fact i said they probably are nice. They'll succeed too if they are.
I just don't think we really need another bar.
All i suggested was for more diversity with restaurants.

Its you that seems to have a bad attitude looking for a fight. Everyone else just gave honest opinions. No malice intended. Lighten up everyone was civil.

You mean the poll no one posted support to.
Maybe here's why no one wants to posts in such garbage.

Take a very good look at the article. It was TOPIX that the woman used to harass this man. TOPIX co-operates with the police in harassment suits.
No one including me in this thread has said anything at all against the owners of this new tavern.
All anyone has voiced is that they prefer something else besides a tavern.
There's nothing wrong with saying that.
Its strictly you looking for a fight. Not me.
I hope the owners read this thread.
They might want to work on the kind of patrons they attract.

Hadn't even heard about the place. I wish them luck, the location has proven to be a problem for at least two different restaurants before them.

And I agree with MM. We have enough taverns, Unfortunately it seems interesting restaurants are hard to keep open around here. The last one we had was Jerk Brothers Barbeque with their Carribean offerings, but they closed way too quick for how good their food was.

I really like the tavern. I like the owners, the staff, and the music. The tap beer selection is great. I have been there several times and I plan to be back. If you don't like the music tell the owner what you want to hear. Every staff is going to go through a adjustment period in the begining of any service business regaurdless of how much experience the individual has or doesn't have.

So where is a Bar/Tavern/Pub/Coffee Shop/Resturaunt YOU would consider hanging out at in Antioch?

So that readers can try to understand what makes a better place in your opinion?

David's Bistro has some class. Docker's is decent, however he could come down on his beer prices to go more in line with what other bars are charging. The Lodge is a drug bust waiting to happen. The new Depot Tavern is in a very bad location for one, several businesses there in the food/restaurant business have never lasted for very long and this new place is just another repeat of what Antioch already has. Boring, boring, boring!!!! Antioch needs to get a life, sick of going to Gurnee on what we could have here. How about something different than Gurnee for a change too, like what they have in Schaumburg it's called Bahamas Breeze. Everything is in Gurnee that is somewhat decent or farther. Antioch is just dive bars. Antioch needs to spice it up, you know kick it up a notch. It will help bring in more revenue too, plus it's better to have something closer too home, besides the same ol same ol crap.

Dave's Bistro is really good. A place like Bahama Breeze in Antioch would be amazing. Bahama Breeze and my favorite local Chinese restaurant are the only two restaurants I have stored in my phone.

Other ideas for good additions to the area would be a Mongolian barbeque place, a good rib joint, a Thai restaurant, a good German restaurant (I miss Wunderbar), and an Indian place. We've got American diner food, Chinese, Mexican, and Italian covered very well. And we've got an over-abundance of American beer, meat & potatoes places.

I miss Wunderbar too.

How can local officals help make this area attractive to specialty retailers, like you mention above?

Yes, I miss Wunderbar too. We should all go to a Village Meeting and ask them--plant the idea in their heads.

It may well be that for new businesses to come into our area there needs to be more of a Public draw. Based on some of the comments posted on Topix, I wonder why anyone would to travel here. The businesses that are established in Antioch are the ones that traditionally work.

Most corporation need high population saturation numbers to invest into a community and that is why you have to go to Gurnee to the variety of stores you like. Great America and the Gurnee Mills Mall generate high levels of interest, and while the kids are having fun at the park, the (corporate) thought is, that Mom will enjoy shopping - while Dad is playing Golf, etc.

With the proposal of the Antioch Market Place there was an attempt to bring more variety to this community but that was years ago and no more interest seems to be there. Many feel that Antioch is having growing pains and until the local leaders can come to grips with that there will likely be more of that still works in area.

I would love to put up a roof-top restaurant, with views of our beautiful downtown. I think it would be a great draw for people who are unfamiliar with our area.

Antioch leaders might consider focusing on those Time-Tested Public interests, and try to enhance the Antioch experience with good dinning opportunities and more Family entertainment.
