So what ever happened to the kid. Is he out of the hospital now. I hope he is doing better. My older child is less then 4 years younger then the victem. we don't need this anymore. Antioch has had it's fair share of this problem. No cities should have it but this is an ongoing problem here. People moved to Antioch to be safe. So many people are moving out. Many of them home owners are stuck with huge morgages and are willing to rent out to low income as I was tempted to do. I just want to feel safe about walking after dark. Hell, I don't even walk down Lonetree in the middle of the day anymore. all the have to do for the people of Antioch is say "We don't have funds to give large checks to section 8 families" and then cap the monthly payments to say 850 dollars a month. cut the money per child down to 150 dollars from the 200-300 they get now. Instead of giving money for bills the Government should give credit for energy bills. But limit the amount. So if the person on housing goes over the limit it gets shut off till the end of the month. You think Im being a jerk for this.. If you don't have to pay for it then you don't think about it. It's your money thats getting spent. Your Government can't pay its own employees right now but they have deep pockets for Section 8 and child welfare while families who work are actually living with friends or even out of their cars until they are able to organize their bills and credit? I said the only socialism I would support is health care and housing for sick people. This is the worst kind of socialism. We feel sorry for you because you decided to have 5 kids and expect us to pay for your lifestyle. One that appears to be more and more like they won the lottery. Then I sit here and watch people piss and moan about how dare us people judge them. forget the thugs.. how about just on principles alone? That's the problem I'm seeing. Is how people who were good and kind and some old neighbors of mine were forced to move into small Apartments. Shaking their heads and crying and wondering why they have to wait years to get on a program they payed into for years while people who have lived off of it their whole lives and are probably third generation cases had no problem getting it in weeks. There was a homeless mom with 5 kids who was bumped up the list. I saw it on the news. Out of Richmond and she was given a house in Antioch. A huge 5 bedroom house. But the lady and man who could only afford a 3 bedroom house and aquired a half million dollar ARM loan and couldn't make the payments anymore was forced to move into a small Apartment. How is this fair? Is this Russia?

I agree. It makes no sense for anyone receiving "Welfare/Section 8 Handouts" to be living in any apartment/condo/house larger than 1500 square feet with a 5,000 square foot lot limit. The taxpayers should not be paying for welfare families to live in the lap of luxury, even if they are paying for some of their rent. Also, what about the PG&E, Water, etc... for these large homes with large lots that some families are living in? Who decides which families get to live in an apartment and which families get a "luxury home?" This has got to be breaking some regulations concerning "fair housing" laws??? It has already been determined that HUD and the Contra Costa Housing Authority have "been asleep at the wheel" in providing proper oversight of the Section 8 program in Contra Costa County! Teen can walk, expected to survive. Suspect is a teenager 17 with prior issues with the law. They consider the suspect armed and dangerous and are looking for him.

There you go. A Happy ending. Well somewhat. I'm happy for the boys parents. Nothing worst then to get a phonecall that your child has been rushed off to a trauma center for gunshot wounds.

Wow, 5 years and I decided to google myself and I come across this page, I am the kid who was shot that day on my way to Walmart. Jon you are right on point of what happened. But to everyone else, if anyone will actually read this, I'm am actually thankful those events occurred to me, I'm not going to sit here and tell you I was the perfect little kid who got straight A's and what not, no, I hung out with the wrong crowd, did my share of illegal things, getting shot was my wake up call. I won't bother with what I've done with my life since I was shot but I'll tell you this, I turned my life around, I matured up and moved on. But I'm not going to lie, I had the most devilish hate, a kid could ever have towards black people, since I was jumped and shot by 10 of them. And I turned into this racist little prick, because sitting in a hospital bed staring at the wall for two months pissed off, high off the morphine and all other drugs they gave me because of the extensive surgery I had, really messed with my mind. But by the time i left the hospital, I realize every nationality out there have their bad apples. Unfortunately the tragic truth is, in Antioch, there's just a bit more of.. "ill educated" African Americans.(I personally blame hip hop) but I won't hold it against them, if you guys want to continue running around the block robbing people, and other gang related stuff, that's fine with me, because I'll be out enjoying my life. i work two jobs, school, got my own place as well. Have a few kickbacks at my spot on the weekends, travel the world. Buy anything I want because I work real damn hard for my money. I may not be on tv rapping about it but I guarantee you if I see something I want, I can afford it. The things you can do with your life has endless possibilities, it's a beautiful fact. But people like "young hustle " (LOL @ your name btw) people like him are so narrow minded they don't see that being a gangsta and a street huslta really makes you insignificant in this world, I really feel sorry for you guys. Because in a 100 years from now, everyone on this planet, will be dead, so it's inconsequential really, all the sh*t you talk, all the bs you stand for. It's more important what you're ready to build, what you're ready to pass down to your children, and what you're ready to create. So you can rub this off your shoulder or whatever, it doesn't matter because like I said earlier, I'm living my life, and I love it. ;)

Ps. I also lost like 80 after I left the hospital WOOOHOO
