Funny how they denied the very statements in this article before the city passed on this project. Now they are coming out. If the times wants to do research then follow the campaign dollar.

A similar project is taking place here in Los Angeles where proposals are on the table to extend the Interstate 710 freeway to Interstate 210 via an underground tunnel.

The cost of such a project has been estimated in the billions. It is argued that such a project would ease congestion and reduce pollution, but opponents of the project say it would be a waste of tax payer money.

Glad that Trans-mountain will be widened/revamped on the western slopes. It will be safer for those of us who use it. As for all those naysayers who want it to stay as is, I am sure there was someone in an older neighborhood upset when your neighborhood was built and all the animals were displaced there. Get over it. Progress is progress and you need to quit whining about it. This project is long overdue--as it is Trans-mountain is too congested and too dangerous.

Spend the 85 million dollars to go towards the Anthony Gap Road! That will be be by far a greater investment! That way trucks will by pass El Paso and will lead to better and safer freeways through El Paso! Plus Transmountain closes whenever the weather gets bad the few times it does in El Paso.
NO WAY... this would make sense... why would we want to do that?

I-10 needs work. Let's widen this old I-10 and do away with these 2 lanes. Oh yeah and what about taking that stinky sewage plant out of the entering El Paso or open up ASARCO plant to cover up the smell. El Pasoans are driving around like their shit don't smell.
