Florida is more concerned with developers, not the developmentally-challenged. Florida---The Greedy State.

I blame the social conservatives. Their ignorance has pretty much resulted in the destruction of our country. No doubt about it. Act accordingly.

Government regulations and "management" seldom make sense. Rules that cause even a second of heartache to an atypical person are cruel.
Thank God for the folks at the Russell Home in Orlando, who have refused government aid since 1951, because Mrs. Russell knew that the government was not capable of the love and compassion her children deserve.
If you don't know about The Russell Home, look it up and read their website, then open your checkbook and help them.

Maybe you should act accordingly and donate time and money without putting a gun to the rest of us. I am all for charitable giving and do so myself., but I do not expect a law to be passed that forces payment. You cannot legislate morality. Lower taxes generally means higher charitable giving.

Fund this junk on the local level. Why is it the states problem?
You want to fund it? Raise property taxes.
Get off my back!

Hmmm, I have mixed feeling's about this subject. We all want the best for these people. However, where does the state and federal government's responsibility end? Sometimes life deals us a bad hand. Can we then scream for goverment help every time we have an unfortunate incident happen to us?

Sometimes we need to take responsibility for our own families. There was a time when the govenment had nothing in place for these people. The families stepped up to the plate and took care of them. Today, everyone expects the government to pay for everything.

Aloof is an example of how terrible mental illness can be.Maybe with more government assistance we could help this person.

Perhaps if there was a little more common sense used in these programs ... oops ... government program-common sense ... silly me. The specific one I refer is allowing the retarded to marry and have children. Of course they can't care for any children ... so we must fund a 24 hr care giver to care for the child.
