This is ridiculous. He is being sentenced longer than these hoodlums get for aggravated assault when they shoot at people and use guns and such. He is a 10 year old, this is too harsh of a penalty.

crying, good? he should cry all the way to his cell. A 10 year old beating a homeless man. How horrible. What is this world coming to and you wonder what type of home life this boy comes from. Sad but true sometimes. If I was his mother, I'd want my son not only to spend time in jail thinking about the crime, but to seek professional help. he's obvious has some mental problems.

This is exactly what this child needs, a little dose of the real world. I'm praying the counseling for Jordan and his parents helps him to understand right from wrong. Sadly though I'm not sure it will.

you make this stupid kid seem like its so sad, he beat a homeless man for gods sake, i dont care if he has a mental problem, i think he should be beaten all the way to his cell, and put him with the hardest, toughest kids in the state

i say make him go to community school dressed in a ballerina dress until he graduates high school. If he doesn't graduate or drops out he goes to juvi.

Let's make a deal. A public butt whipping, televised, with hot dogs and beer. Three good whacks with a cane to split those little butt cheeks like a ripe tomato. Then, GO AND SIN NO MORE MY SON. I doubt this would make him any meaner that an extended lock up in juvi.

I give this judge credit for not letting them boy back into the community. He recognized the fact that the kid needs mental health help and is going to ensure that he gets it before being released back into the community.
As far as some of the ridiculous comments concerning this kid, maybe the mental health help could be extended to some of the people that post on this site.

I actually kinda feel sad for the little guy, he does need a punishment most def., BUT if he had decent parents and a stable home life he wouldnt act like that the little shit....seriously though WHAT is this world coming to?

its nice to see the system trying to stop the problem now rather then 10 years from now when he beats or kills someone elses. Maybe going to a mental health place will help better then jail.

I dont think counseling will help. It is a little late. You can thank his parents for that...

I feel if he gets proper treatment and finds someone to show this little man love and respect for one another there still may be a chance for him to have a productive life. Ten is a bit old to learn the basics he should have as a small child, but, he was obviously failed by his parents. It is sad that his life is headed towards one of crime and drugs but hopefully that is what the judge is trying to do in foresight, avoid that lifestyle with intense counseling. He should have ordered the parents to do so as well. If they don't change, chances are neither will the child. Can someone explain why it seems that there are far worse crimes committed and less time given to those who commit them repeatedly?

He is protecting the public and the kid is getting help. Now what charges are they bringing against the parents? If the parents did not try to get help for this kid they are just as guilty. Maybe judges should start getting tough with all the other hoolums you mention and quit giving them a pass because of their age.

He probably has these mental issues because of his mother and the disfunctional home enviroment he obviously had. In most cases children are the mirror images of their parents.

Liberal judges and attorneys that are always looking to make the Law Review. That should pretty much answer your questions!
