Rosebud Man Indicted for Sexual Abuse of Child

Pierre, SD
United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced that a Rosebud man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for aggravated sexual abuse of a child. Anthony E. Farmer, age 25, was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 19, 2009. He appeared before US Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on May 29, 2009, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The penalty upon conviction is a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of not less than thirty years up to a maximum of life, a $250,000 fine, or both. Farmer is accused of the April 2009 aggravated sexual abuse of a female child who was younger than 12 years of age. The charges are merely accusations, and Farmer is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the FBI and Rosebud Law Enforcement Services. Assistant US Attorney Randolph J. Seiler is prosecuting the case. Farmer was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal. Trial is scheduled for July 28, 2009.
