They stopped because these intelligent kids you guys speak of decided it would be cool if they vandalized it after the man had done started renovating it by tearing all the sheet rock all to hell. His money down the drain. Its a reflection of the parenting that takes place in Ansted.

There isn't enough money printed to restore that dump, the roof leaked for years and ruined all the wood floors and all the wooden post foundations under it is more or less so rotten there are pieces of whatever they could find stuck between the posts and floor to hold it all up, basically should be condemed, nobody roller skates anyway, most kids stay in the house and plays on computer or gaming and what few wonder out are on drugs and couldn't skate anyway.

Does anyone know the latest news with this? We dropped by today to take a look. It looks like someone has done a lot of work there to include the stair railings and a fairly new roof. I didn't even know anyone was renovating. Then I googled about the rink and saw this posted about it. I would love to see inside the place. It's way bigger than I thought! I never got to skate there and went to the one in Fayetteville (building long gone). My boyfriend skated at the one in Ansted and would love to see it open back up!

I got info from the owners that they hope to open this summer. Whoever posted his name, thank you! I just hope people leave it alone and quit messing up what others are trying to work hard on for the community. I can't wait to go!

Actually... What is wrong with the kids is that their parents suck and don't do anything with them... This is West 'By God' Virginia... There is PLENTY to do!! Get up off your ass and go for a hike... wade in a stream...

But the skating rink is open now....

Just saying..

Not anyone elses job but the parents to see that kids have something to do. No one called the rest of us to help when they were making the kids.

You make 'bout as much sense as having a bucket of ice water on a cold winter morn'.

Many young people today want and need something to do other than vegging out to video/computer games. They need "socializing", getting together with others of their age group, in a constructing or entertaining situation. The Skating Rink would be great, for just this purpose. Without something like this to do, they get bored and often fall to into destructive, or even criminal behavior. Drinking and drugs become their entertainment, crime and vandalism follow. Many have had little or no social guidance, have no "moral center" and realize no consequences for bad behavior. THIS, results in events like Columbine (and others like it) and like what happened to Brian Holloway's New England Home last week (see www.helpmesave300.com )! There are social programs for Veterans, the Elderly and the Disabled. Why not for the future of our country? Parents ARE responsible for their kids behavior, but it DOES "Take a Village". Parents must work together, to see that their kids have something constructive to do and stay out of trouble. Skating tickets or "passes" (for kids) would make good prizes at school and town events. The people and the town, should do whatever is needed to preserve and protect one of the last few places of it's kind. Not only is it an important place for the people, it's history, slowly fading away. Without support, it will be only memories and photos of a "better time", past.
Love it

If they destroyed it a few years back, how can you blame it on the intelligent kids of today? Those kids would be the Parents today, you big dummy. You are another intelligent parent of WV.
