Bill wrote: In regards to the fire levy! NO I would not vote for it. All it would do is give more money to UCO fire to buy the gas, to set the vacant houses on fire in the county. If Doug is so pure and clean then why did he sleep with his cousin Wife! I am Sorry but have you seen her! I dont think there is enough beer to make her even cute! Back to the subject! Doug got caught stealing from UCO! Yes He needed to be fired! What else has he done that he didnt get caught doing! Come On, his own father was stealing water to fill is pool! Must run in the Family! The Best thing that could happen to both sides of the stateline is that UCI takes over everything, at least on Thrusday nights, if I need a Ambulance I know I would get one! I cant count how many times I was sitting listening to the scanner to hear UCO be sent to a call and not show up! UCI once again had to be called and cover there worthless butts. Both Sides have great members and are dedicated to their jobs! But the fact is that UCO only has a few of them, the rest are worth a flying nickle! I wonder How many couples were split up because members of the UCO fire dept could not keep their pants on! I Know for a fact that is still going on! That is why I am not a member of UCO fire anymore! I would be afraid to lay on the cot in the back of a UCO Ambulance after what I have seen and heard being done on that cot! It would be afraid of catching a STD! Well I have said Enough! Good Luck UCO Fire, UCI still have you beat by a mile! Doug Wright did a lot of good things and gave a lot of his personal time to the community, its unfair to disrespect him after all of his years of service. "what he got caught doing, has been going on for long time and not just by him" He made the wrong person mad and got thrown under the bus!" Maybe we need to look at other officials and department heads? Not to mention I could really care less who he sleeps with!

I know employees and have seen both departments at work over many years, both are fine departments and have some great volunteers and employees. Its not easy doing their job! There are ups and downs everywhere. They give the best they have what more can be asked of them?

sounds to me like the up's and downs are going on in the back of the ambulance, but you really got to admit it would really be a cool rush. I'd be flipping on the sirens and hootin and hollering and getting busy, can i get a hell yeh?

The ohio side fire department went down the drain once Doug was let go. he basicly ran that department. yes he messed up and that was his fault but everyone messes up in life. this isnt a perfect world. Doug was always the first one on the scene no matter what time of day or what the weather was like. yes Union City Ohio FD has taken a lil longer on calls i will agree but they are trying to get things figured out. i have heard of things going on over there from friends that work there and it sounds like a cluster F**k over there but they are trying. UCI i think right now has a good response time and dont just let buildings burn down. i dont care where you live there is always going to be buildings that burn down no matter for the department. you ppl are just bitching about it cuz it is union city. people like you that just sit on here and bitch about it y dont you go to the damn council meetings or talk to someone and try and help them instead of sitting on here and bashing UC. yes i agree this town has problems. but they are trying. nuthin is going to get fixed unless we all work together and help one another. so next meeting on UCI or UCO lets see how many ppl show up to tell what there problems are and what they think needs to be done. and i bet no one will other than the usual ppl that show up for them and then you will be on here bitching about what happened.

I am saddened by all of this "chatter" about the UCO & UCI fire depts. Both sides have great people, as well as a few not so great. Isn't that what makes the world go around? Do most of you know how much education & training goes into these jobs??? UCI fire/ems gets paid far better than UCO fire & rescue-but even that is not great pay for the job you do-you know---risk your lives every time you respond to a fire or ems call. UCO fire is strictly volunteer-repeat volunteer. That means for $8-9 for the first hour & much less for the time spent past that-including clean up & getting the engines ready to go again. Whether it is 100 degrees or ten degrees, the pay is zip. You spend more than that driving to the station. EMS calls-daytime is paid @ UCO $9-11/hr from 0600>>1800. 1800>>>0600 is volunteer. On duty for twelve hours-if you have a call you get $8-10 for the call--one hour or four hours-that's it. Oh yes, plus clean up time &getting the ambulance ready. That's a flat rate -not by the hour, no OT. But we do get all of this glory we get to read about in this forum, and hear @ the coffe shop, etc=- about how worthless & slow we are. Both sides are taking applications-both sides need volunteers. We would love for you to give your time, energy & yes, your loyalty to help our community. some of us have given many years for almost no monetary reward-imagine that. But we love it & we will continue to show up @ your house when it is on fire or you are sick-& we will help you.

I am not disputing that the departments are good only pointing out that Doug Wright did a fine job of keep the department functioning without all this crap

I completely agree, Doug was not treated appropriately-that was a personal vendetta from Stahl.

UCO Resident wrote: I completely agree, Doug was not treated appropriately-that was a personal vendetta from Stahl. You are so wrong. Stahl never had a vendetta against anyone. Wright broke the law and if you break the law and get caught you deserve what ever happens to you. Doug got caught finally. Who knows how many other things he did but did't get caught. His time came and now he has to pay for it. I'm happy someone finally turned him in.

He also did alot of good things for this village for all the years of service he did.

how do people feel that Doug Wright was not treated fairly. how could anyone not expect to get fired from their job if they stoled from them. that makes all of you that thinks he was treated unfair a IDIOT. stahl just was doing his job by fireing Doug. we was stealing from use sense we are all tax payers. do you IDIOTS let people walk into your house or up to you and steal your things. i think NOT. grow up and think about it!!!!!!!!!!

What about all the things he gave to the department? My point is I can name a few people in UC that are or were employees that "used" city property!I think Doug was just doing what city employees had been doing for years.

that is not what he got fire for, he got fire for using city money to get his personal car fixed. should we have to pay for that. he did it with out permission. he turned a bill in for it and tried to pass it off as a ambulance and the city clerk got it when she tried to pay the bill. if it was for just using city property he wouldn't have been fired for that. he got felony charges brought against him for this matter, and convicted on it. do you really think using city property would have made it to the court system as felony charges and convected on them. i agree that doug is a good person, but he wasn't thinking when he did this and made a mistake and got caught doing it. the city had to do what is in it's best interest.
