In too many cases, the system will rely upon the woman's word because they do not want her to "go through it all over again", or "have to relive the experience". The "victim" is allowed total anoniminity and immunity from being charged with perjury if she changes her story several times during the case/trial. The slightest change of her story is not even questioned as the prosecutors will defend her "mental/emotional state". The "victim" can even shed crocodile tears and behave in a hysterical manner to make her testimony more believable. How many prosecutors are going to risk losing a conviction by questioning the honesty , integrity or, culpability of their "client" /state's witness?

As for the falsely accused, maybe they shouldn't hve been doing what they were doing to put themselves in the position to be charged. As I have posted elsewhere,some jurors are fair minded and some are not. I have read posts from careers jurors who enjoy watching the accused man squirm in his seat and the look on his face when they find him guilty no matter how much he is proven innocent. My twin brother served on a jury here in Nashville where a man was accused of murder. There was no evidence of him committing the murder, nothing that connected him to the scene. It was proven that he was elsewhere when the murder was committed. The state's whole case rested on the false testimony of a woman who claimed she saw the accused, her ex boyfriend, kill the man. He witnessed several of the jury members say the man should be found guilty before the jury even entered the court room. The man was found not guilty, only because my brother reported the corrupt jurors.

you also might want to read up on how being raped can ruin your life. one case, high school boys raped a girl, causing major damage with a broomstick, among other items. Because she was drunk and passed out, judge dismessed changes, saying she might have consented. high school jcks stayed at school, girl was forced to leave area

false reporting of rape statistics went from 20%, in 1960, to 2% in 1973. having a female officer qustions the victim and changing societal attitues towards women having sex outside of marriage appear to be the biggest contribuers. It used to be that all the victims sexualy history was allowed as testimony to take away her credibility. I even once witnessed a prosecuter making any issue of a woman wearing bikini underwear and asking wether or not she was waring a bra. Yes, people sometimes are fasely accused, that is why it is important for jurors to listen to evidence without preconcieved opinions. Unfortunately, this country still appears to suffer from "madonna/whore" syndrome.

It's not about what he was thinking after he shot, it's about what he was thinking WHEN he shot. He thought he was protecting his wife from rape....or at least, shooting the man who just raped his wife. It was his wife fault as she is who led him to believe she needed help. It's as simple as that...the justice system worked and she's in jail

It's a cliche, but it applies in this case; "you can't falsely scream fire in a movie theater" She screamed fire when there was no fire and a man died because of her. May she rot in jail. Ironically, she's now put herself into a position where she most likely will be raped....and no one will care. Her fault.....too bad.
