If your wanting to buy property there then buy it, personally there is no way I would purchase any at that cess pool. It was the main runoff from the mines and if you would like to believe that it's all cleaned up then by all means believe it. It is our government that has told then that "yes everything is all right." But do remember that it went from camping and lake use to living quarters there so rules there do change. I know a few people that have property there and they are looking to sell out of that area due to the riff raff that has been roaming the lake on the big weekends. If your looking for a place to party down, get stupid and work on trying to kill yourself or others, then this is the place for you.

Ok if you open your eyes the mine is there in pilot knob... A large iron mine, that lake was a part of that mine. If you actually know any history of the area smart ass you would have known that.
And frankly I could give a damn, buy the property at there I could care less... Drink the water, leave your stuff there for months... Being a local I don't worry about the so called security gate... There are plenty of trails that lead a person to the lake if you know the area.
So please buy the property, move on in and live like some of the "sandford" folks that live there...

I don't know the history of the area that's why Im asking you smart ass! Also if you think the place is so bad why would you bypass the "so called security gate" and come in the back trails? Admit it, you love coming to the lake to fish, ride your fourwheeler and party or just relax there like the rest of us do after a hard weeks work.

To be honest, just come in through the back ways to fornicate... That way the husbands and boyfriends of the ladies would not know... Even used a few of the empty campers that sit out there on the lots... So please buy a lot out there, put a real fancy camper with a slide or two on the lot :) I would break it in just right...

Really if u are interested in a lot, just drive down and talk to Jim. It is a really nice place to ride. My entire family enjoys it. We ride atvs, buggies, and golf carts. They aren't strict about the rules...u just have to watch for some of the idiot riders out there. But all n all it is a good friendly atmosphere.:-)

this is the kind of crap that goes on out there

http://www.youtube.com/watch...

fast forward to the city boys pulling guns out of their trunk to nonchalantly fire into the woods - the woods that some people may be sneaking through to avoid the gate

I know a lot of young "adults" that go out there and it's definitely not family oriented like it used to be

My husband and I just got back from visiting Lake Hanna. We went out to look around and see if we might want to go in on a lot out thee that some kids have and need to sell.
NO WAY! The lake itself is beautiful. There are at least three bath houses and one is especially nice. There are some beautiful sites there that are well maintained and nice. HOWEVER, there are more that are just trashy looking. I could be very nice if some rules were put in place about hauling off old trailers and campers that no one is living in.
We were very disappointed because we love the area, but I think we'll go back to Wayne and/or Butler County to find a place around Wappapello.

With all the thefts this year and some of what appeyears to be methheads living there they really need to enforce the rules. I have fairly decent location with only one eye sore to see and it just gets worse every summer.

Please don't listen to the idiots giving vague negative comments. Actually it's a fin place ti ride ATV's and fish. The lake is stocked with fish, so in reference to the poster wanting a swimming pool, he needs to go elsewhere! As for meth heads, that would be Iron Mountain Lake area, not Hanna. There is an occasional theft issue with people stealing stuff at unattended camps, but overall you can have fun out there.
I had a lot out there. Got rid of it after 1 summer. The water was nasty. Nothing but a bunch of partyin kids.Lots of drugs. All they do is raise dust. Not a good place to sit out on your lot an enjoy the woods. You chock on dust an drunk people riding 4 wheelers an golf carts. Ever been to east stl ? Well welcome to lake Hanna

Just a rumor, kinda funny how it always pops up every couple of months. It's false and has never happened! Not to say they couldn't find numerous violations with illegal septic systems, however it's just not gonna happen until there's a reason (kids getting sick from swimming for example)!! This rumor is all to common at small lake communities everywhere, the EPA would have to hire 10 times their current staffing to pursue every site like this one!!
