It USED to be great. Now the Section 8 folks moved in (Not too many) and Illegals,(A few more) and the Hispanics tend to knife each other. The Section 8 folks just sell dope and sleep with white girls.
We DID have a peaceful period before the Liberal real estate agents ruined the community. But back before 1984 you couldn't get to the beach before running the Biker/Tatoo gauntlet. But they were polite.
Put a chastity belt on your teenage daughter and you'll be OK or you'll get a 'Jellybean' grandchild. You won't know what color you'll get.

Etek is wrong. Edgewater overall is improving. South River Colony is taking over Edgewater; and as such the Blue Collared, an overall racist crowd, is being forced to the south. Even out of Anne Arundel County.

Etek is hilarious..and right about the daughter part. Other than that I would love to live in Edgewater..there was a misc crime last week behind a steakhouse..but it seems this crime could happen anywhere.

I grew up there...lived in Southdown Shores neighborhood and we never had much problem there...
The crime rates aren't high at all overall no matter where you live...I wouldn't want to live in Londontowne/Woodland Beach but it's not horrible and that's where the best prices are probably...

I have it on good authority that the current drugs of choice in Woodland Beach and its surrounding communities in Edgewater are crack cocaine, marijuana in some form, and heroin. You don't hear much about crystal meth lately.

Crime--not like it used to be. Woodland Beach hired a police officer to monitor the area and drug selling is not too obvious, mostly among "friends," you don't see undesirables hanging out on street corners or at the beaches. Every now & then there is a bust somewhere, but most recently these are in Glen Burnie and Davidsonville.

Hispanics--My next door neighbor is Salvadoran, and I have not had a better neighbor in 40+ years. They own a house up the street that seems a bit overcrowded, but apparently they take care of their own. Trying to speak Spanish to them with what I learned in school in the 60s is comical.

I lived here for 17 years, I'm blue collar and not a racist.
As far as I'm concerned South Colony has made things worst here with arrogant white collar people who cant afford the houses they live in.
So no Blue collars are migrating to south County because of the COLONY!(again just the arrogant people make that staement)
Great place to live

since my last post it has been getting worst with the drugs people are getting hooked on these prescription pills and i work at a grocery store and i see people come in and get there perscriptions filled and there are always groups of kids waiting outside for them to sell them to them and these kids range from 13 to 25 but the gangs are getting bad to ecspecially the D.M.I woodland beach is getting filled with crack and pills you wouldnt belive it just last week there were 2 house raids that produced heroin crack and pills and im talking about big amounts so watch out who youre kids hang around and it seems like the kids now have run all the rednecks out and seem to be running the neighborhood so the rednecks are pretty much over run by the new white boys not african american kids and its crazy who knew that the rednecks would have no power in edgewater anymore lol

Edgewater is a wonderful, DIVERSE place to live. Crime in AA county is much less than PG County. Edgewater has less crime than Crofton, which is closer to PG County. The Schools are GREAT in Edgewater!!!
Drugs are everywhere!! Teach your kids not to do them! DUH!

I am 24 years old. i live in edgewater. the pills are getting kind of bad...i dont think that much crack or heroin if any....but all together the woodland beach part of the neighborhood is pretty much the worse part and its not really bad...not like people hanging on the streets 24/7 like someone has already said...south down is a really good neighborhood and then the southdown colony is a REALLY REALLY good neighborhood

I have lived in woodland beach for about 2yrs. I am a mother of 4, 2 of them being teenagers. My problem is parents who allow their children to run wild and have no care as to where they are. We need to stop blaming our neighborhoods and the type of people in them. Raise your child!! know everyone they hang with. I want to know where my kids are at ALL times. Sure, I'm not stupid I know their gonna try things. But Mamma will find out and there will be consiquinces. I know several of my kids friends get in day out running the streets. What is that teaching them?? NOTHING!Sadley I know several parents are hooked on pills. Statisticly their kids will be too. Overall I love the area. I just wish some parents could see that they are the teachers. What children see their PARENTS do, THEY will do!!!!

I have lived in Woodland Beach my entire life. Grew up in the 70's there. I have not been sheltered from the good, bad, or the ugly, and I've seen it all. I want to tell all parents to be very very careful with your teenage and 20 something year old children. The Beach right now is the worst that it has ever been as far as illegal drug use is concerned. Prescription drug use is RAMPANT. HEROIN use is increasing. Maybe not over there in Southdown William, but I KNOW its in the Beach. I am not even going to blame it on Section 8 or hispanics. Its all of the above, an society in general today. I still love the area as its my home, but I am so very concerned!!!

What the hell are you dummies talking about? Kids and drugs are a problem everywhere. They are not a bigger problem in Woodland beach than anywhere else, Especially Annapolis and Baltimore. Know one has run the "Rednecks" out. They just are not the target anymore. Hispanics are here and very nice folks. Their homes are kept very nice, and they are friendly. The homes here were mostly rentals up until 10 years ago, so the crime rate has actually gone down. There are still racists around, but again, not any more than anywhere else. There are more black racists in Annapolis, than white racists here. Was a great place to grow up.

I was a bit apprehensive when I moved to edgewater. Liked the school....eventually the londowntown neighbourhood grew on me. Nice naighbours..but i hear sirens so often, that makes me worry. Have only been here a month and have not had an actualy reason to worry so far, but I still have mixed feelings I would say.
