BEANETICS COFFEE ROASTERS RESPOND TO COFFEE INDUSTRY SHAKEUP;
REPORTS RESULTS OF SPECIAL BOARD MEETING
Annandale, VA, January 8, 2008: Beanetics Coffee Roasters today announced that it was well positioned to respond to the recent events shaking the coffee industry.
At a special Board of Directors meeting this morning, Chairwoman Amy Starr received unanimous support from the entire Board to retain her position.We understand that some major players in the industry have just announced significant management changes and are reexamining growth plans, while others are adding baristas to their Mc-menus, Starr said.We at Beanetics believe that our community oriented business with a focus on high quality freshly roasted coffee is what our customers want. We will continue to deliver that product.
Beanetics hastily called a Board meeting when the co-founders 12-year old son heard over breakfast that at least one major coffee chain had just removed its CEO, and expressed concern about the future of Beanetics management.We immediately wanted to quash any speculation by our son, and our customers, that either our Chairwoman or our President was in danger of losing their position. Given the fact that we are the only shareholders and the only officers, we have confidence that no management shakeup is in the future, the Starrs jointly announced. The Beanetics Board also rejected unanimously the idea of adding a funny looking egg sandwich to their menu to respond to the announced addition of baristas by the fast food industry.
A fast food barista is an oxymoron to me, Beanetics Chairwoman Starr said.Growing, processing, roasting, and brewing a good cup of coffee is a slow, time-intensive effort. It involves offering a beverage that appeals to every one of a customers senses. Exhaust fumes from the cars around a drive though window make a quality sensory experience challenging.
Beanetics Coffee Roasters, is an independent locally-owned coffee roasting facility and coffeehouse. Customers can watch as green coffee beans imported from around the world are roasted in a glass-enclosed roasting room. Beanetics opened its doors in February, 2007.
