PALMETTO - A state program to combat gun violence has put a Palmetto man back behind bars.

this sounds like a list that could be made up by anyone!obviously i was illegally arrested by sarney and i was no "thug"im a buisiness man that has 1 conviction for head butting my sister in 1992 prior to getting her in rehab and taking care of her 2 kids for 2 years...i made a complaint on a fwc officer,filed a report to his major threw my lawyer and 2 months later i was arrested(on my birthday)in front of my children for 2 trumped up charges regarding a phone call?thing is i was contacted after the phone call by his captain and nothing was said about me doing anything wrong,just send a letter and we will take care of it,that was my last communication with them untill my arrest?

I also had a no bond reduction and was forced to pay $2500 at 11a.m for my bond and was released at 10:30p.m...i also was givin a false # code and was unable to make any phone calls and was told"to bad"when i told them of the problem...i luckily convinced one inmate to please use his phone card so i could call my wife...
prior to this i spent over 2 hours trying to make a complaint on officer lowers with no results,i was hung up on transfered and re hung up on...this all transpired after i bought a new boat and have been pulled over 7 times by the same officer for safety checks...he told me its the law and he can do one 3 times a day if he wishes too...i have more evidence to back up my story if anyone is interested...please look me up i was nto able to post my #....thank you...like i stated this was executed 2-3 months after and on my birthday in front of my 2 children,i have been charged with a felony and must now pay for a lawyer to defend me after paying $2500 to bond out...i stayed in the sarasota county jail on the floor with 30+ other inmates in a 10 inmate cell with no phone call....

Thomas, you are indeed a moron ! Before you lie like you are, remember that everything you say and do is all recorded somewhere. You did not get hung up on 7 times by any means and if you read the Florida Statute that you violated, you will see that the message you left was CLEARLY in violation of the Florida Statute! I hope you get every bit of the 5 years you deserve in prison! I know your past as well with law enforcement amongst some other things you have said - you need to be in prison!

I'm glad that Tom Burnette was arrested by a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Burnette was stupid enough to leave a "recorded message" stating that he would shoot the officer in the head. Once the case is over, the voice recording of Burnette will be available for ALL to hear!!! How do you like that, Tom Burnette? Also, this isn't your first brush with the law. You have a history of challenging the authority of officers, from what I've read about you. You can only push the police so far before they start pushing back by enforcing the law against you. If you'll routinely challenge the authority of officers, then I'm sure that you'd crap all over ordinary citizens, if they crossed your path. IMO you are a dangerous man and I'm SURE that this won't be your last arrest. ;)

well obviously you didnt look at my phone records that clearly show i WAS hung up on or put on hold or transfered soo many times while trying to contact someone in regards to the harrasment.i also have all my witnesses in order to prove the harrasment on the water,4 different people...whatever you think you know about me is wrong and just jealousness of you being a low paid officer of the law...i work my ars off to keep my kids off welfare which is hard to do right now!..i may have a bad attitude when approuched by some officers,but only when they lie or treat me like crap!..anytime you want to search my house,dont bother with a warrant just show up,ill be glad to let you walk threw!ive had issues in the past,but have tried to calm down and be a good father,but its my first time at it!i dont beat my children,and they love me with all their hearts,and so does my wife,so whatever you THINK you know is complete bull or past,people who know me say ive become a good person and calmed down alot,you know nothing of me or my past,only what you think you know....why hide behind your computer,be a man and call me and talk face to face,i wont hurt you or anyone!ive never attacked a person EVER,im just not one to lay down,i a person that will come back at you just most get scared because of my size and then retreat to the police...everything you have on me is not admissable in court!one prior in 92 for trying to get my sister off crack?,my wife tried to get me to leave,we argued yes but it was for the safety of my niece and nephew!

i dont crap on people ive helped many!i do challenge authority when its in the wrong!i have many friends that are officers as sarney saw,i wont get arrested again as im too old for that crap!my kids and family are my priority and whatever you think about me or heard from jernigan is untrue,my house was raided for no reason,nothing found!then they searched my garbage 2 years after(thanks to the garbage mans info)then i had 5 detectives pull me over for speeding 5mph over?then jernigan pulled my friend over and asked to search his car because he left a known drug dealers house,and my friend allowed him to with nothing found!then they tap my phones?then jernigan pulls me over on the water after making eye contact and now the water police are pulling me for speeding in a pontoon?or "safety checks"cal me or staop by,know me before you jump on the crazy train!im not,i just want left alone on the water is all,if im doing something wrong,pull me over untill then leave me alone!im fishing with my kids or friends,thats it!ive had no issues since that 92 incident,ive given officers hard times when they push like they are above the law...and then this past weekend,officer lowers partner profiles me and says "you sure look crazy"thats just wrong,imo...thats how you people talk to a citizen?...you will not find a jury that believes i meant any harm..all you have is non admissable evidence,you made me pay out $2500,spend the night in jail,eat the food they serve,pay a lawyer...i think ive learned my lesson....all i ask is for them to let me alone,pull me if im in the wrong,thats fine..

Tom has always been a fair guy. Just stands up when people that let authority go to their heads. This country is great and freedoms are wonderful. Paid for in full by many americans who fought or gave their lives. However some think they can harrass citizens and use the badge as a way to do it legally. My fathers wife has a brother who is a cop and he abuses his power. He will get trashed at new years party's or christmas party's and then get in the unmarked cruiser totally crap faced and drive to the store. When he got pulled over one night he flashed his badge and drove on. His sister my dads wife has been baker acted before. However she still gets on these kicks and goes bezerk. Causes all sorts of problems at church, home, with family, and with friends. When she shows out and gets loud at night and a neighbor calls the cops guess what she does? Calls her brother and he takes care of everything. When my Dad got enough of it and warned him from just walking in his house unannounced and being all bossy the brother/officer acted like he was above the law. My dad warned him unless he had a warrant and he just came in unannounced that he would be escorted out via firearm. Just as an officer carries one a citizen has the right to do so as well. When the officer oversteps the boundary then a citizen has every right to defend himself. Guess working on the aisenberg case and being a K9 officer gets you special treatment. As does many high profile jobs give certain people. It happens more often than not. Allthough leaving a message on an answering machine stating your rights, intent to defend yourself, or whatnot may not be the best approach it is human nature to fight back when constantly pushed.

I've known Tom for a while and most of his freinds are mutual to me. He is a good guy. An intimidating looking guy? Yes, but decent to deal with and helpful above and beyond expectations. Our children hang out from time to time and he enjoys taking them fishing. I'm sure I've gotten away with speeding on the water more times than tom's boat is able to. I just consider myself fortunate to not be in his situation. Don't judge things just by what you read or hear. I mean how many times have we been misled by the weather man? He works for the news channel correct? You have to walk outside and see for yourself. Just as you need to meet someone before you trash them based on what you hear.I don't believe he actually wanted to hurt the officer, but just end what seemed to be harassment. We all get upset and often misunderstood let's face it. But when you attempt to get help from a "Superior" to no avail how are you supposed to react? I've called in on officers in the past, because I felt they were out of line, which anyone should safely and respectfully be able to do. They do make mistakes just like us and should be recquired to answer for them. Good Luck Tom.

I love how people are so quick to judge a man without knowing facts..or call them names on the computer.Tom is a hard working man that loves to spend time with his kids, He tried to file papers so he could do that without being harrased and we all know what happens after that. Some twisted werds and a false arrest just to show him who the boss is. Learn the whole story before you go calling someone names and saying they need to go to jail...When it may be that someone may need to use their badge for the reason it's given to them and not as a sheild to bother someone that looks at them funny.

There are many statutes that are selectively enforced. This seems to be one. Also, I've read about more than a few cases of law enforcement overstepping their bounds recently. Law enforcement officers have a tough job - one that I wouldn't want , and I'm glad they are there, but there's a difference between enforcing the law and enforcing your will. This whole mess could have been avoided if public servants acted like public servants.
