On the contrary! A person who home schools their child...such as myself ~is only thinking of their child. Why are you on the defense? Is it because your child goes to a public school? "SOME" mothers do have to work, and don't have the choice to stay at home with their children. What does this teach the children anyway-that LIFE IS A FREE RIDE?
AND to "flippledoutchick"- Some people on here have tried to tell you it is where you live, not the whole city or county. YOU make it YOUR home. You say you have only lived here for a while, and now your moving. Where are you from? Crime is in every town now. Is it really good for your child to move around so much, are you teaching him to run from your problems? That everyone else is crazy, thiefs, or on drugs. That you are the one that is perfect?

YES, I agree with above!!!!! I have lived here in Manatee County for over 40 years, and have never had a problem with crime. You take care of your home and neigborhood and you are surrounded by the same. Good luck to Flippedout and GOOD RIDance!

The ret. cop gets an "at a boy" for doing the right thing. He's a tribute to what's right about America...he thought life is important enough to save.

How is this different from what anyone would do? Not sure I follow you here. It was just a good find and a lucky break for the baby.

This baby being rescued is proof in my opinion that God does exist and He definitely has a great plan for this child.

Then why was the baby in this situation in the first place? A better plan would be to have the baby born of others that would be far more responsible. The baby's parents should not be having babies, if one were planning all this in advance. One could place a positive spin upon anything, but this does not convert as much to logic. Grand plans are more emotionalism than rationalism.

Apparently you know nothing about where I am moving. My town has only 400 people with almost no crime. No one needs to lock their front doors!! No thugs in this town. As a matter of fact only 1 black person in the whole darn county!!!! No one said perfect~just one hec of a lot better than this town!! Oh and for the recored ~I am teaching my child something a public school will never teach him. Values, morals, etc..... I am a single mom and I know if you want something bad enough you can do it!! I work at home as a writer! I made it work!! There is no excuse what so ever and I get really tired of hearing"some of us have to work". Okay...so quit trying to be like everyone else. Find a job you can do from home and spend real quality time with your kids...how about that?

Why?! She could have left the baby at the hospital anonymously. Abortions are safe and legal. I hope the mother is okay, but she could have made a better decision than just leaving a newborn out in the open.
