My advise to you is to move out and save your money for a divorce. Why should the tax payers have to pay for a mistake you made. You came up with the money to get married come up with the money to get divorced. It's ridiculous to say just because you are poor someone else should pay for your divorce. This is exactly what is wrong wih this country, everyone thinks they're entitled to something for nothing.

Easy does it now "SAVE" we don't know the circumstances of why she/he wants out - there are several factors in why people get a divorce... Maybe he/she don't have the money because the spouse won't let them work and now they are trapped. Maybe they want out and is trying to do this secretly for whatever the reasons are and their could be many... just saying

You can print out the paperwork yourself and all it will cost is the filing fee at the court house, which was $150 when I did it. The paperwork is pretty easy just fill in the blanks.

who are you to judge them? I admire them for asking for help. some people just stay in bad marriages because they are too afraid to get out. Try worrying more about your own life

Go to the school of Law at SIU they have a Library there that has tons of different forms/ paperwork a person can get for free any where from restraining orders to power of attorney to divorce etc... just fill them out yourself and pay to file it through the clerks office not sure of the fee though and you will get a court date Good luck .

Miss, Mrs, Ms, Ashley I hope your only trying to be sarcastic and as a human don't really feel this way towards another human. Much to your surprise topix is about other stuff besides bashing someone. This person obviously is just asking for help with a divorce! They are not asking you to hand over your bed for them to sleep in. A divorce is hard enough to deal with let alone the financial cost. Have some empathy.....

You're exactly right, I don't know this person's circumstances, but I still don't beleive that "poor" people are entitled to a free divorce.
To guest, that's just what I am doing, worryig about my own life, which includes, not covering the bill for someone eles's divorce. At some point in our lives, we need to take responsibility for ourselves.

I was also in the same boat. You can file a "Pauper Statement" I you go to google and search "SIU School of Law" use there website. They have ALL the documents you need to file your own divorce with NO legal help. You are your own representation, It is basically fill in the blank and it has a guide to help you fill in county numbers, etc. Now this will help you if you guys are willing to agree on things like custody agreements, property, etc.. That helps a lot. The pauper statement is included in the paper. You file that first with the Circuit Clerk in the County in which YOU live. Fill it out, they will give it to the judge. Within 1-2 days he will either approve or deny it. If he approves it, it will not cost you a dime to file the papers OR to go in front of him. The only thing it will cost you is to mail the papers to your husband (that is YOUR responsibility) because you are your own "lawyer". I hope this helps?!
good luck
