I've been going out to Harvest Mission Community Church for a couple of years now and I have to say that it's been eye opening. I'm really amazed at the people's commitment to really try to live out the biblical principles that are preached rather than just simply come out to church, and I've been experiencing God's love, grace and power in this way. Even though everyone makes mistakes and fails to keep their commitments at times, I really see how genuinely people try to build one another up because people want to once again is committed to living for Christ in everything that they do. In this way, I've been challenged to grow and check my heart. As Harvest Mission Community Church have been challenging me with the truth of the God's word, I have to say that many times my heart motives have been exposed showing me how I've been just picking and choosing what I wanted to hear and would make me feel comfortable when God's not a genie but a perfect father that wants to mold us to be more like him.

So glad that I came to this church and experienced so much. I'm really grateful for the people that invested in my life and helped me to sharpen my faith. I know there are definite issues that the church has to overcome, but I appreciate the honesty and effort people have and their willingness to deal with them.

I'm so thankful for this church. This church takes ministry seriously. Its goal is not to have as many members as possible, but raising disciples of Christ. HMCC tries its best to build a biblical community on campus, and focuses on missions through church planting. Pastor Seth is a very ambitious man of God. He genuinely cares about every single person in the church. He disciplines out of love and he often expresses his gratefulness for the generous church he serves.

These posts must be in response to the controversy involving Seth Kim and Harvest Mission Community Church. Here is the original review which doesn't begin to describe all the wrong-doing that goes on there. Harvest Mission Community Church is a large Korean church in Ann Arbor led by a racist pastor, Seth Kim. Non-Asians hear “Go away!” at service, spoken by people around them who completely avoid eye contact. Sermons make personal attacks against other races in which Seth Kim complains about injustices from the “white majority.” Seth Kim singles people out in mass with subtle comments such as "some people who attend this church are mentally ill" staring at specific people to the amusement of others. There is also an attack against Applebee’s restaurant on account of their “offensive” Oriental Chicken Salad, in which Seth Kim's wife suggests that everyone sign a petition against Applebees. Sermons denigrate Western civilization, praise globalization, and gush about Korean solidarity. Religion is a powerful tool and Seth Kim is recklessly using it to hurt others.

Yes they are very racist. It's well known by any non-Asians who attend there.

They have a token white pastor who's married to an Asian who is the first to tell you how bad the racism is.

I am non-Asian, and more specific caucasion. I ran accross this page before attending HMCC and I have to come back and comment on the above comment. I certainly wasn't around at the time of the above comment, but I want to make it quite clear that I have been completely accepted in this wonderful church! And honestly, more so than most, if not all, of my other church experiences. Additionally, a friend of mine who is African American, has felt the same. This is a most amazing church and BOTH Pastors are very kind. I have gone to church all of my life and been involved in a handful of churches and can say without hesitation this church is really a wonderful representation of what church should be as I see it! As far as the petition is concerned, I did not understand that the word 'oriental' is offensive and I am certain this petition (which I do not know about) was meant to bring awareness to this fact. I have also spent time speaking with the Pastor's wife and she is as kind, sweet person. If you are interested in finding an amazing church that is all about this world knowing who Jesus Christ is and experienceing who he is, then this church is for you. If you are 'wondering' about church or Jesus, this is a warm and inviting place to visit. I also have to say that, not only am I caucasion, but I am well past my college years. There are a growing number of families, single, and divorced people of a variety of ages who attend. I attend without my husband and feel completely accepted and loved for who I am! I highly recomment checking this church out, even if you are concerned you don't 'look' like everybody else. If your experience is like mine that fear will quickly fade!
