I personally don't like Bourg, but I still believe he was the better choice of the two we had. He wanted the job to do things for the city. His plans were to refuse a salary. Whereas his opponent not only took the salary, but had to fight to double it. Sources say Tommy isn't in it for the money. He claims he could set up office with his DADDY and make over $300,000 a year. That's a hell of a man to give that up, just to be little New Roads mayor. I'll quote Tony Clayton on this from a post election conversation I had with him. "Good luck residents of New Roads, Good Luck." How can you not like Bourg, when you are Bourg! Get over it Bourg you will never be Mayor in the city of New Roads! Maybe you should do more research and you will find that Tommy really doesn't have to work a day in his life, don't get mad at him because he is set for life.

I know the man personally, his wife, his kids, I've been to his businesses, both the hardware store and his grocery store, and never have I seen him make a comment or turn down someone because of their color. Now, he ran against a black man, but I don't think that makes him racist. Now your response to that is gonna be "well he tried to cheat". I don't believe that, but even if it were true, let me ask you this: if the man he were running against were white, don't you think he would've done the same thing to win? Would he still be a racist? No, no, he's not a racist because of your feelings about the way he ran in the election. To you (whether you believe me or not), he's a racist because when he was born into this world he was born with white skin. That's what makes him a racist. I bet you are a racist too!

I tell you what, how about I agree with everything you say, become a slave (so I know 'your' pain), and start posting about how white people are all racists? Then will you stop calling me a racist?(no, because I'd still be white)

Partner, I can assure you that I'm not Bourg Langlois. In fact, you've called 2 different people Bourg (that I've seen). Would it be fair to call you Tommy? Or how about if I just call you Reverand Jackson? And I like how you don't actually post any real opinions or, hell, anything at all except for blatant (and ridiculous) insults.

I dont think his father would have paid him 300K/yr to sweep and mop the floors.

He cant pass the bar exam. Hell his mom had to take it for his dad.... That should tell you something. Oh- by the way. Tommy was the tie breaking vote on the board for the raise, before the election.

HOW CONVENIENT TO "VOTE" YOURSELF A RAISE BEFORE YOU TAKE OFFICE. AT THE RATE HE'S GOING, HE WON'T BE IN OFFICE VERY LONG. THE LOUISIANA SECRETARY OF STATE WILL BE COMING IN TO WRITE CHECKS FOR THE CITY BEFORE IT'S ALL OVER WITH.

It is to be noted that typically any votes for pay raises are for the next office holder. That insures fairness, impartiality and upholds the publics trust. Otherwise ....there is another vote and another vote ...etc. People's complaints on this issue is well justified....why can't you see this...?

Otherwise ....there is another vote and another vote ...etc. People's complaints on this issue is well justified....why can't you see this...? No they are not, what you fail to realize is that is Mr. Nelson was not voting for just a raise for himself, the council as a whole got a raise as well, which he voted for(and, guess what, they voted for their own raise too)he was the deciding vote for the mayor's raise, he had not taken office as of yet, and, if the residents of new roads can't understand that the previous mayor opt not to take a pay raise because it would have drastically interfered with his retirement, that he could afford to live off of that sum of money yearly, that it was his choice to NOT accept a pay raise, then why does the next mayor be expected to do the same, their life styles are totally different, i may not be able to accept a job paying 5.50 and hour, but maybe you can, and does that give you the right to assume that because the last person did it for that amount, then i can too...he did what anybody else would have done, voted for and accepted the raise...and the ethics board said that according to the bylaws, he did nothing wrong because he was not mayor at the time of the vote, this raise was to take effect when the next mayor entered office....

I find it funny that so many people are so quick to judge people that they do not even know, basing what they think they "know" on rumors and falsities. Be it Tommy Nelson or Bourg Langlois, if you don't personally know them, you have no right to slander them.

I work very hard to and if I had a chance to up my payroll I would too. But if I had a job that paid me 300k a year then what you think I would do? That just tells me his dad didn't or couldn't pay him that much. OH I forgot that Bar test would keep him from making that amount. So yes I would become the mayor. And take the raise that I would get.
