Gun owners would still be permitted to carry licensed handguns onto Department of Natural Resources land, a state panel has ruled. Full Story

Guess you've never heard of herd control or feeding homeless people with venison, have you?

What are all these gun-toting sissies afraid of? They can't even go on a picnic without their lethal "security blankets"? I think all handguns should be cast in pink metal as a sign of the courage of the owner.
And what would you do if you were confronted by a criminal? Call 911 and beg someone with a gun to come rescue you. That's real cowardice.

"The DNR points out that individuals opposed to the carrying of handguns in state parks interact, without incident, every day with individuals legally in possession of handguns in public places such as restaurants, grocery stores and shopping malls,"
And there's the crux of the matter. Why would we, who carry our firearms in public, suddenly lose our minds and go on a rampage, just because we've gone out to a park? Answer? We wouldn't. Now, if someone will convince the powers that be in certain cities,(*cough* Carmel, and Indy *cough*) that this should apply to their parks....

i have no problem with firearms, i am also liberal in many political views. consider calling someone a coward to their face, and without your gun, and you might need the services of a dentist.
Glad to hear you have no problem with firearms, but it's tough to be simultaneously okay with guns and with liberalism. It's kind of like saying you're okay with science AND astrology.(What's your sign?)

You must mean the old-fashioned liberalism that took its cues from liberty and independence, not the new version that does everything it can to undercut those ideals.

If you hit someone for calling you a coward you may have no problems with gun carriers but you do have problems.

KMA People like you have no idea how much pleasure and relaxation there is to sitting in a stand or blind just hoping to get a shot.
Not only that do you have any idea how many more car vrs deer accidents there would be if not for hunters? Also if the populations aren't thinned they can cause millions in crop and natural vegetation dammage on farms and State Parks. In areas such as Brown Co.Park the deer were so over populated that they were literally starving to death.myself I would think it more humane for a hunter to kill a deer and put it on his table than have it die a slow death from malnutrition and starvation. So before you open your PETA mouth next time at least have some facts before you start blowing wind.By the way I enjou fishing too!!

No, n.c., it's not the ones carrying the guns you have to worry about. It's the ones pulling them out and aiming them at you as they demand your wallet, your wife, and possibly your life.(Or husband, but wife just flows better.)

I hunt and carry a gun because it is my GOD GIVEN RIGHT to do so - not something given to me by the State. You are a complete hipocrite. You allow someone else to kill the meat you injest, completely absolving you from any responsibility. Guess what, you panty-waisted liberal, you have blood on your hands, you just are too much of a coward to admit it! I happen to be honest that I am the top of the food chain and eat the deer and other animals that I kill. I do not kill for the fun of it and I am raising my children to do the same. You are someone that is in serious need of reality. I will take my set of college degrees and smile back at you when you call me a redneck. I love God, America, and my family.

This is obscene. I had planned on camping on DNR property late this summer, but now I am afraid to. I wish that handgun owners all were responsible enough not to use their guns in state parks. However, the fact that they want to carry them in state parks tells me then intend to use them recreationally. Consequently, it is only a matter of time until someone is injured. Have our governmental authorities learned nothing from the fireworks debacle in this state?

Sure I wonder, Mr. Idiot. That is why I look before I shoot. Most people I know dont "shoot at noises". Remember, those things between your nose and hair are called EYES and they are to see with.

Reading posts like this remind me why our country is in decline. Few people are in tune with the world and have no practical experience in hunting or using guns.

If our country would become involved in another world war, God help us. There aren't enough folks around that know how to shoot a gun well enough to be of use for anything other than a target.

I've been confronted by someone with a gun. A neighbor who could see what was happening called 911 and someone came and helped. In the meantime, I looked down the barrel of the gun and held the gunman off without a weapon. Don't tell me I'm a coward.

My Marsh doesn't carry fresh venison. I've checked Costco, Kroger, and Walmart, too. I'm a litle picky. I prefer northern Indiana grain fed venison cleanly killed without automobile bodywork embedded in the meat. It's low in fat, and makes great sauces like spaghetti and coney - no grease floating on top. It also makes dynamite chili.

I probably don't have the same taste in music as you, so that would make you a useless city slicker ignorant beyond belief, right? And don't forget, whatever political party line you espouse, 50% of the voting population considers you a sexually deviant lying moron - luckily that's only 10% of the population as a whole.
