I heard that the Mayor & Board of Aldermen are trying to start trouble with the fire department again. When will enough be enough? Are they mad because they have no control over the department? Is it a personal vendetta against Chief Johnnie Grant? Is it because of recent dismissals of certain firefighters? There has to be a reason. Lumberton is the only city around here having problems with it's fire department. Maybe it's because it's not a City department. It is contracted to the city. Whatever the problem, it needs to be resolved because we are in real danger of losing our fire department and First Responders. What will happen then. Leave Chief Johnnie Grant and the Lumberton Fire Department alone. Like Alderman Quincy Rogers said, "IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!"

I wish someone would tell people it's time to stop popping fire work's. And I wish the cop's would up hold the law about firework's in the city limit's. I don't like hearing the popping all day.

I agree... What alot of people do not realize is that if this continues and the local fire department shuts done and i loses the equipment which most does not belong to the city, What that will do to the insurance rates of the citizens of Lumberton.. I think that it is about time that the board of alderman and the NEW mayor needs to worry less about this matter and worry about what is going on in the city and why it is dying. why there are no businesses wanting to come in.. to answer that question all you have to do is go to one board meeting... Folks it is time to GROW UP and think about the people you were elected to work for and help. and Stop worring about what is in your pockets best interest..
Leave The Chief alone. There is Noting worng with the fire Department. The citizens need to think about this and show up at the next board meeting on the 21st and support your local fire department. the Men and Women that are there to protect you and your property... show your support at the next meeting on the 21st.
