Starting a new restaurant in this economic climate is asking for it to be closed .... I can't count on two hands the restaurants that have closed in/around Murphy.

Concerning Gaston's, it's always sad to see a restaurant close, but we are not from Florida and I know absolutely nothing about Cuban food as is the case with most people that live here.

Starting a restaurant in any time without sufficient capital to carry it for at least a year is either madness, ignorance or stupidity.

I think they gave it a good shot. I don't the area was ready for what they had to offer. I wish them well. The food was fantastic! Besides, it wasn't just Cuban food. He had an International menu.

Just As I said in the 1st forum, if you wanted to try it out, hurry as it would not be there long... I hear the checks are bouncing all over town, and the employees have not been paid. Sad, but the hand writing was on the wall. So Critic guess I was right on the money.

Gaston's is not only closed, but cleared out! Not only that, but at least some, if not all, of the last checks written to pay the employees have bounced!

Yup, they closed.

These rumors are hilarious! It seems like everyone in Murphy loves spreading rumors. I've heard all kinds of things about these people that have been untrue. They're actually really nice and very hard workers. Unfortunately, their business (like many others in this economy) didn't make it. People are just envious and need someone or something to talk about. Let's not point out faults of all the other restaurant owners in town. If you listen to each and every rumor your hear, there wouldn't be anywhere to go eat.

What ignorance!

Although I was a supporter of the restaurant it is a fact that they were underfunded and left quite a few good people either holding bad checks or just never going to get paid for work performed.Prior to opening many months late the landlord had put the restaurant back up for rent when they finally did open they had only approx three months to run before they were closed. They had good food the times did not put them out of business but their faulty business plan did if they even had a plan.
