How is this the school district's fault? They don't keep tabs on their employees after they leave the premises, nor should they. I agree with the other posters, who are rightfully asking: where were the parents? In cases involving isolated instances of abuse it might be understandable that parents would know nothing, but not in a case such as this. 80-95 times?! Come on.

The parents, yes I too wonder where they were...

The school district, not sure how it is their fault?? Are they to blame when everyone that works for them breaks the law or worse(in this case) outside of school?? That is very stupid to blame them.

I think you're a couple of days late with this story!
Are you people going to cover Carbon or not?
Just in case you were wondering, printing old news is not "coverage"!!!

I'm sure this guy had an exemplary educational resume or had friends in the right places within the district. That's all that seems to matter when hiring is done in the government educational morass.

And that was my first thought upon reading this story, too! The guy had no kids the boy's age, no reason to be hanging around with him whatsoever and the parents weren't alarmed by this friendship at all? Doesn't anyone know what their kids are doing these days?

At this point, I think that any parent who allows their child to spend time with a grown man alone should be charged with negligence. There is no normal reason for a grown man to hang out with a kid one on one, no matter what the adult says or how nice they are. How many times does this have to happen before people wake up?

25-yrs ago, I was a boy in this situation. I am now a dad and warn parents, be concerned if any adult is TOO intererested in hanging out with your kids. In my case, the dude was a math teacher-&-family friend. If it seems weird, it probably is.

Was wondering the same thing about Carbon! Hey McCall why don't you come to a Palmerton School Board meeting or better yet a Building and Grounds meeting to find out that the School Board MAY be suing their own PTO!!!! Over a piece of property that belongs to the School and is contaminated! A piece of property that the School has let children dig gardens and dissect fish on for years long! A piece of property that should have been tested a long time ago like when the grants were being given out for it to be cleaned up for free! Yes taxpayers your School Board is paying an Attorney I believe it might be $125.00 an hour over this issue! If they continue on their quest then the PTO will now need to spend their money on an Attorney. Money that is spent on assemblies, field trips, teachers, etc. Who will be affected by the boards antics...YOUR CHILDREN of SS Palmer!

Do you think the school district will be sued? Nope! Teachers are exempt from what happens to clergy! Where was the school district. Why don't they take responsibility for what happened as the church has had to do for bad clergy? Looks like a double standard to me! I think they all ought to be sued for what they do to kids ... but don't just single out churches. Get to teacher's unions, school districts, boy scouts, girl scouts, etc. They all have had the problem!
Mr. Snyder is NOT a teacher, nor was he a member of any union, especially the teacher's union. Please get your facts straight before you post a rant on this or any other forum.

I wonder if this man is related to the Mr. Snyder who was accused of inappropriate sexual behavior at Southern Lehigh High School last year. That Mr. Snyder killed himself but I think he had a brother. Hmmmm.....
