I was driving home from work while switching lanes to exit on Foley Blvd I seen this man jump to his death, it was like a cart wheel motion with his head hitting the road first, he was wearing blue jeans and a green jacket perhaps a MN Wild one. It looked like he had died instantly as there was no movment after impact with a large pool of red forming around the mans head. There were many of vehicles that stopped around the man I was one of them, no car accidents happend while traffic stopped. I was going to get out of my car but a man on his cell phone and lady beat me to it. The lady bent down next to this man that had jumped and just crumbled into tears as the man was not responding. This truly has been a tramadic event I did not even sleep last night, I can't imagine what that poor lady must feel like.

I too saw this happen. It was so sad and so awful to see. I wish I could get the image out of my head. I feel so bad that he felt there was no hope in life and the better choice was to end his own life. How desperate he must have felt.

I was on the bridge, parked behind the State Trooper's squad- He did everything he could to talk the man down, and the man did fall back onto the shoulder, but was too fast in getting back on the ledge, that the trooper couldn't catch him in time. I stopped, as I knew just where that man was coming from- I live with depression and wanted so much to tell him about the help that would have been available to him. My prayers go out to us witnesses, the state trooper at the scene, and yes, the victim and his family.

I also saw this happen. With my 5 year old in the back seat.

I have never seen anything as horible, and traumatic as this in my life.

I drove under the bridge shortly before he jumped. I was coming from Fridley headed to Anoka and noticed the state trooper first. I thought it was a speed trap. As I got closer to the bridge I looked up and saw the guy on the ledge directly above me as I passed underneath. It took a couple of seconds for my mind to process what I had just seen and I immediately called my wife to tell her this. It was 11:32 when I called her.

I later heard from someone that he did jump. Thankfully he did not go through someone's windshield. Did they ever shut 10 down to prevent him from hitting somone's car or did it happen too fast?

I haven't seen his name released yet.

Gary, they did not shut it down until afterwards.

I haven't seen his name released, but I am afraid that if I do find his name, it'll make things worse. Putting a name to the man will bring it that much closer to home, as I am already having nightmares of watching him fall, and seeing his body laying lifeless in the middle of my every day drive home.

I literally have been glued to the incident, and can't get it out of my mind.

That man was Brian Cunnien. He was my childhood best friend. I live in California and heard about it from a friend of mine. I cannot for the life of understand why he jumped. I am very sad about this. I will be traveling to Mn. for the funeral.
I thank the people that tried to help Brian. I will miss him. He was a great guy.

I just heard this morning of this incident, he was a good friend of mine from the 7th grade well past highschool graduation. Although I havnt talked to him in the past few years, I was thinking of him only a few days ago. He was a great guy, always had something humerous to say. I'll never forget when Mike Podgoski,(above) Gary and I told his dad we were going to the park for the day. His dad gave him the keys to a brand new Fleetwoood, we all went to souuth dakota to buy fire works... It was 1977. I'll never forget you Brian!!! Mike if you read this give a call!

I was a friend of Brian's and had been for nearly 20 years It with a very heavy heart that I was given the information today of his untimely death. Brian was about as easy goin as it gets and for him to pass in this manner is disconcerting. We all wish his friends and family peace as their appears to be no closure. Our thoughts and prayers and wishes go out to those who are grieving. I just am stunned

Gary. Mike here. I am back in Mn. right now. I just got in a little while ago. Unreal. I was just talking with Jeff Larson. Remember him? Freak coincidence meeting him at the Maplewood Bowl. We exchanged many stories of "The Tower". His nickname was tower head. It was the hair. We shead some tears in our beers. Damn. Brian was a cool dude. We miss him! I shall call ya. Regards,
Mike

My sympathy to the family and friends. This is just terrible. It sounds like Brian was a good guy to have as a friend. After I passed underneath him and realized what was going on, even though I did not know anything about the man, I prayed that the incident would turn out ok.

Mike,
Greg told me where to find you. I haven't seen Brian for many years and now wow... He was always so easy going and just a good guy. We all had a lot of laughs growing up. I haven't seen Jeff Larson for many years as well.
You can contact me at [email protected]

Take care,

Brian and I met at age 17. Ironically we met years later and were married for 8 years. All our friends teased us about how well we got along after our divorce, he even lived next door to me for 3 years. Thats the kind of guy Brian was...once he was your friend, he was your friend forever..huh guys!!!
My heart is breaking (along with everyone else who knew him) because somehow we didn't see a sign that Brian needed help. It hurts to think of his desperation the last days of his life. It comforts me to KNOW that he is safely wrapped in his mothers loving arms and with his father and brothers he missed so much. RIP Brian, you meant alot in my life. You will always have your special spot in my heart, Love, Sue
