I just saw a video of the funnel that hit Picher , OK . A pretty big wedge .
I would estimate an EF-3 , from the damage pics .
I admire the strength and resolve folks in the Midwest have .

Bush offered his condolences to the families of those that were killed.
He also said the Government woud be moving hard with aid for these people. Something like New Orleans ??, where people are still waiting for some help to rebuild or repair, the same for some people in Florida after Wilma.
But who cares, in the words of Barbara Bush "those people didn't have much anyway", a typical Bush attitude, some count ....and some don't count.
If this was any other Country in the World, there would be aid, money,
Red Cross. Temp. housing, Military assistance etc.,etc.
WHAT A DEPLORABLE SHAME !!

We were among those who lost our home to Wilma in October 2005. FEMA kept turning down applications until April 2006 and their assistance terminated one year later. Charity begins at HOME and it is voters in THIS country which put these political characters into office.....and, indirectly, their pals.

In many areas of the nation, insurance companies have pulled up stakes and refuse coverage. FEMA funds is all those folks have to try to get back on their feet. In June of last year, a flood devastated a large chunk of my area. Many people who had been judged to be NOT in the flood plain were flooded. They were not eligible for flood insurance because they weren't supposed to be flood prone. Now they are paying for a totalled home plus paying rent for another house while FEMA stands around picking their noses instead of moving forward with buyouts.

That's IF the community was enrolled in NFIP. I happen to know what's going on in my area, idiot.

It's always got to be someone's fault. Give me a break. Quit looking for a handout. Always be prepared to fend for yourself and stop whining like little sheep. The government should'nt have to bail you out.
whats that

I agree, why do you expect the govt to bail you out. That's why we pay insurance. If the insurance won't protect against flood damage then why on earth are you building in a flood zone? That's just tempting fate.

At least the Greensburg folks aren't sitting around demanding the feds do everything like those worthless welfare skans in New Orleans.
Isn't it refreshing to see that not EVERYONE is a Welfare case? The folks in Kansas know how to help themselves. They are pull yourself up by the boot strap kind of folks. They are proud, hard working people that are aware that the Lord helps those that help themselves. The eternal Welfare families from the hood, exemplified by New Orleans, know that if they cry loud enough the government will take care of them, just like the plantation owners did for their ancestors in the 1800's. Nothing has changed for some. It is not racist to state the facts.

I have never heard of flood insurance not being available to anyone in the U.S. Go to FLOODSMART.GOV and learn a little about the National Flood Insurance Program. EVERYONE that owns property is eligible for flood insurance. You DO have to pay for it, just like I pay for mine. Now you and your neighbors are looking for a free hand out, just like a panhandler on the street. And, you are upset because the government is not giving you free money fast enough. Your people want "buyouts" because they were too cheap to pay a lousy couple of hundred dollars a year for flood insurance? That is just pathetic. You really believe that tax dollars should bail these people out for free? Wait until they find out that they will get low inteerest SBA loans that they have to repay instead of free grants, unless they are all welfare cases. That should create quite a stir! I have no sympathy for people that are too cheap or stupid to protect and insure their property.

I stand corrected, the community DOES have to qualify, which means they have to choose to participate in the program. That means that if a community isn't in the program, the whole town must be insane! Good luck with FEMA!

The story stated that the nearest town of Blencoe sounded it's emergency siren BRIEFLY, before the electric was cut off by the storm. I have one question:
If you live in tornado prone area, and you have an EMERGENCY SIREN, wouldn't you have that siren on a BATTERY back up????I realize that the Blencoe town siren could not have helped the poor Boy Scouts, but it could have helped the citizens of Blencoe.Get some batteries guys.

We have a winner! You guessed correctly.
Anyone else feel like they're living in the Twilight Zone, politically speaking? Our citizens can't get the equipment they need to help rebuild in our county, because it's not IN the country.

My deepest sympathies to the friends and families of those involved.
I have not read all of the posts yet, but this is the type of situation that some reich wingned religious idiot states “God hates this town because …”
I mean, if that applies to some towns, like the idiots said about New Orleans and many more, why not others that happen to be a Midwest town???
Oh, don’t piss off those in the Midwest who are giving you all of the money. Nevermind, I just answered my own question.
Now had this tornado torn up an abortion clinic or gay bar jerry falwell would have already been on the news…Yup, I know the idiot’s dead, but his hate spreading has saved him, so he reserves the reich to rise again!
