if Jennifer was your child or your child was the driver of the vehicle that killed the girls you would feel differently. Believe me Blood runs thicker then water.Your opinion would be totally different you would not want your child punished this way over an accident. She did not set out to kill the girls that morning.she did not get up and say today I will kill those girls. When it is our time it is our time irregardless.I am so sorry it happened and hope everyone involved can find peace.

I also am sorry that it happened and hope everyone involved can find some peace. However.....I have heard that she has blamed another girl in the car for the accident by blocking her view. I think that, even though it was an accident, she still needs consequences for her actions and take some responsibility for her own actions. Maybe she should at the very least lose her license for a period of time.

In response to "in total agreement", I would still want my daughter to have some consequence to her actions besides losing her friends. Rather that would be community service, losing her license, to even serving a stint in prison. I would stand behind her and support her. I would not want her to think that she could kill a person (or 4) and get away scott free. In every other case of her doing something wrong she gets some sort of consequence why not for this too?
I have to live with this for the rest of my life and I or my daughter did nothing wrong. I am not out blaming a passenger in the car for the accident or thinking that they are joking with me about it and then being treated like I did nothing wrong so give me a new car, take my dead best friend's boyfriend as mine, and act like nothing bad ever happened.

once again you are not in that position so you do not know for sure what you would actually do or expect. believe me you never want to be a mother who has a child in prison that is from the horses mouth and certainly not over an accidental circumstance once again so sorry
whats that

An accident is when you stub your toe or maybe ding a pole with your car. I do not consder this to be an "accident". If you can not see if the road is clear to go then you say excuse me I can not see and do not proceed to go until you can see. You also do not blame a dead girl for your mistake that you made. Maybe she will learn more if she knew that she couldn't get away with murder.

you can all say what you want but it is hearsay and none of you know that final moment of descison, you can talk and talk and talk but you do not know. Your are poeple just talking no one was there and no one knows. My kid was in prison he learned the prison way to save him himself and worse today then the day he went to prison. Prison is a society no rehabilitation you learn worse ways just to get by and be sexually mutillated. You need toget hold of real life inprison

ok, I hear two words that are key here. "decision" and "life". she and your son made a decision and have life. some get to make no decision and no longer have life.

yes my kids made some descisions but it was not an accident and yes they have paid. My sister was killed in a car accident by a gentleman speeding. it took her life and left three children at home without a mother. I never once thought of him going to jail or being punished it was an accident. By the way he was not off campus when he should have been at school. He was an ordinary person like you like me like Jennifer. ACCIDENTS Happen get a life and I should hope you never have accident as I would elect you to go to prison....

I don't think the truck driver should be imprisoned either. I'm not saying she should be in prison, I'm saying that she should take responsiblity for her actions. You cannot go through life thinking that everything you do is without consequence whether good or bad. Tomorrow is mother's day and think of the four mother's that will try their best to get through the day. They will pay for their daughter's decisions to get in that car for the rest of their lives. I think that rather than getting rude by saying "get a life" people need to think about all parties involved here, not just the driver. As a mother I think, I've done everything (including those er trips in the middle of the night with a high fever, etc..)that I can think of to keep my child safe and all it would take is one minute, one careless decision, to take all of that away. Can you even imagine what the mother's are feeling. And... what with her blaming one of the girls, acting as if nothing has happened etc.....Don't you think that the mother's are thinking something along the lines of....didn't my daughter count for anything to you. Or maybe you think that just because it was an "accident" that life just goes on and nothing should be done about it and meanwhile 4 not just 1 but 4 people are dead. I get really upset when people get rude because they think there's only one side to everything. I think there are several sides to this issue. You stated above, "if your child was the driver" but you failed to state the opposite, "if your child died in that car". How would you state things then.

life does go it stops for no man and if you can not get over it and forgive then you will have no life at all. It happened everyone has suffered. I have no indifference here just reality and having lived a long time and not very many in my family left I can say that.. When you get beyond 62 you will realize that we were born dying,,no one gets out alive.Get over it and quit trying to think punishment will solve any sorrow. It won't only time will heal.

Why is the truck driver even brought up. It was NOT his fault, he had the right of way... And the report from the Kansas Highway patrol says that the car ran the stop sign, that means the car did not stop

She wasn't saying it was the trucker driver's fault. All she said was Jennifer should take responibility for her actions. Because she didn't yeild the right of way.

The Highway Patrol report I saw made no mention of "running a stop sigh", it said she failed to yield right of way...

People..Please let the familys deal with this! I am sure there are things going on behind the scenes that none of us are aware of..So many still hurt and will hurt over this for years! I just don't know why none can see that Jennifer is in denial she does not know how to act, what to say, what to do so in order to cope she is acting "normal"..I am sure that if there is a case here the legal system will deal with it..But she will live with this for the rest of her life and believe me when I say this she does not have it as all together as everyone thinks and when it does finally sink in her world is going to come crashing down around her!

Well, it's probably because you didn't know her before the accident and that's why people don't see it that way. You can ask any teenager about that. Also about the relatively new car(2006 i hear), do you think that she needs that handed to her after this?

I was in a bad accident near Ulysses about 5 years ago. I was driving and had three kids under age 10 in the car. Two were my siblings and one was not. 2 of them were seriously injured, including the one who was not my sibling. No one can understand the hurt of injuring someone else like that. When we got to the hospital, my parents went with my little brother and sister and one of the parents of the young girl in the car with me sat with me so that I wasn't alone. I couldn't stop apologizing to them. They forgave me at that moment. Even with that it was months before I could sleep through the night without waking up from nightmares seeing the kid's faces. I can't even imagine what Jen is going through in herself. She needs forgiveness and support right now because her worst criticism is probably coming from within herself, and yes I did know her before the accident, and am close to the family.
