I don't worry about a Hummer ramming me; I worry about a 52' trailer with a tractor that is bigger and more expensive than my house with a driver that has 3 hours sleep in the last 3 days. When all the nazis out there are able to get the trucks regulated (no product should be allowed to be moved on a truck for more than 100 miles if a train could have taken it, for example) then they can start on the Suv's.I wouldn't feel safe driving one of those tiny european cars with all of the escalades, hummers and explorers on the road. Until people change their mindsets and start driving smaller cars, our roads will not be micro-car, motorcycle or scooter friendly
Mighty Hummer meets its match in gas prices

How fast do you actually think we can obtain oil from this "new' drilling on US soil? Think really hard. OK.... what are we going to do for the next 10 years?

Sorry to disappoint you that I'm not a Pinko. American Consumers have a right to choose what they want, but it is not always what is best for themselves and the population as a whole. The housing bubble is a perfect example of that point. Now all these people who wanted more house than they could afford want the government to bail them out. The people who were capable to afford the home they live in are watching the value of their home drop b.c. they are surrounded by homes in default or foreclosure. |

No snow? How can that be bad? That only hurts Florida's snowbird visitation. Pluses are no shoveling, no salty roads, no school days off, no power outages, shorter winters, no slips and falls, less heating in the winter. I can dig this AGW.

They designed a chevy Yukon that is capable of running in a full hybrid or partial hybrid mode. It gets the same gas mileage as a midsize car. So yeah it's possible. Note that the hummer H3 is much lighter and shares the same platform as the chevy colorado. |

Do you have any idea how slow intermodal can be? It is great from an efficiency standpoint, but the speed costs it dearly and makes it impossible for many items. |

I'd rather have a 4X4 in flood to.

Feel free to hop in your Prius and get the F out then. Anytime you can manage to run a Roofing company on scooters you let me know. You think the price of gas is expensive here? This is just the beginning. If YOU can't afford it YOU can walk to work or carpool. Don't pretend you know what's best for anything other than yourself. Like the Prius is so green anyways,$3000 worth of batteries so toxic to the environment that the factory that produces them has no vegetation or wildlife for miles. Forget about how they dispose of the old ones. Liberals.. |

Yeah screw the Republic who needs personal liberties or freedom, where's Karl Marx when we need him, he could spout off crap from the Communist Manifesto while you shined his boots. |
Well, as a train buff I'm pretty knowledgable. Intermodals are not as fast, but are cheaper, and more to my earlier post, more efficient. The amount of time is also based on the present paradigm. If it was important enought they could make it faster. If this country wanted high speed train routes and was willing to pay fair prices, I have confidence that BNSF and CSX and NS etc would make it happen. You might be surprised at how well they are already doing. Here is a great article. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortun... |

I agree. Never understood why a city dweller would want to have a big SUV unless it was for hauling stuff for business or emergency vehicles. And when the drivers of SUVs slow down to one m.p.h. to drive over the speed bumps at the mall - the vehicles were made for rough driving. Good riddance to the Hummer. Unless you live in the mountains, they are kind of useless. |

Who cares? Maybe these families you're stereotyping only drive 50 miles a week. We had an H3 as a rental and it was pretty comfortable. Does it fit our lifestyle? No, we drive a ton of miles. |
