The USA has more people in prison per capita than any other nation on the planet and the main reason is stupid laws. This is one example of stupid laws.

One adult sends a nude photo of himself to another adult who asks for it. Both parties are consenting adults, so no harm, no foul, right?

The prosecutor claims that because the photo was routed through electronic servers out of state, it's now a "federal" crime. How stupid. The adults were in one state, so how the photo reached the other makes no difference. If any adult nude photos are inadvertently sent through routers in Saudi Arabia, should they be prosecuted for sex crimes in a Muslim nation and have their heads chopped off?

Stop the insanity of these prosecutors. It was a local incident and it should be handled by local courts; it should never been made into a federal case! The police officer is now facing 20 years in prison for sending a nude photo of himself to an adult woman who asked for the picture. That is too crazy for belief!

FYI, the USA has 6 times more prisoners than Communist China and 22 times more than India and the Philippines. It's all because of our stupid laws and ridiculous prosecutors!
