John L. "Jack" Stephl, 84, died Dec. 16, 2012, in Wasilla, Alaska. Born May 26, 1928, in Wauwatosa, Wis., he was a Marine Corps veteran, a retired residential building contractor in Waikoloa and Anchorage and Girdwood, Alaska, a private pilot and former member of the Anchorage Curling Club and Hohn Plumbers and York Steel hockey teams.

"Jack" and all of the Stephl family are some of the finest people I've ever known in over my 70+ years in Alaska. Was very sorry to learn of his passing. I enjoyed installing the plumbing & heating in many of his projects in Anchorage & Girdwood.
