Weird weather: heat, twisters, 250K tons of snow

Mar 16, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Belleville News Democrat

Nearly 11 feet of snow has fallen on Anchorage, Alaska, this winter. That's almost a record, and it's forcing the city to haul away at least 250,000 tons of snow.

Where are the creepy, irrational Tea Baggers to tell us the weather has not been getting more extreme?

that would be 62.5million gallons of fresh water for those aquifers some are whining about..and that's justy the haul away..

The idea that things are 'extreme' is a cloak for the weather patterns have shifted, the Earth cools itself regardless of where people have chosen to live, it is a very big picture, not something that can be micro managed by a weather report. Man and even computers can not determine this because the initial conditions can not be known..that is why it is called chaos.

Very mild winter here on the East Coast. Nothing extreme about it.

Could explain how the jet stream flow staying North of most of the U.S. this winter prevented a lot of Arctic air from getting to many places, but he wouldn't understand. His goal seems to be making Fat Al even richer. I wonder if he is on Al's paygroll...

Man, you're even dumber than I thought. This winter is near record - record - as far as mildness on the East coast.

That is extreme, you mongoloidal pus.

But a blip means nothing. You'd have to look at events over a wide area and also for a trend over time. People with more than your eighth grade education have done that....

And you seem to keep forgetting that "records" only go back a little over a hundred years. The earth is a tad bit older than 100 years, Gomer.

You keep getting stupider. There's only one or two others comparable. It's extreme. It's way off the bell curve. That's what extreme means, you idiot.

Temperature records can be gleaned way, way back from secondary indicators, you dolt, even if they aren't quite as reliable.

The point remains: Even in the context of a couple, or even one, of centuries of hard data this winter was extreme.

Like the swath of tornadoes. Like some of the nw snowfall for this time of year. Like the Pakistan flooding. But again, we are just beginning now to see the manifestation of the weather extremes brought on by climate change.

Anti rational idiot.

It's no longer about Al Gore. In fact, it never was. You'd be hard pressed to name any issue on which the scientific consensus is so solid as on co2 and climate change.

And don't start in with your junk websites claiming to list deniers. Even if they all existed, even if their views aren't misrepresented, they're still a drop in the bucket of qualified consensus.

You've been incorrect on every single fact under discussion. You can't even grasp what "extreme" means.

Hint: "Balmy" is extreme if it's typically frigid at that time, you special needs class washout.

Consensus? Then you're a follower and not a leader, unable to think outside the box.

Take it easy Cletus..!!!...short controlled breaths...

Since the population of the world 200 years ago was only 1 billion and is now 7 it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that the machine is going to break down soon, the number is 9 billion and that happens exponentially in the next 40 years. Now unless you want to start killing off the weak, that is not going to change. Neither is it going to change because yet another politician tries to play it again on his campaign promises..All I know is my small footprint isn't the cause, justy a tiny little contribution and I am not going to foot the bill for the whole thing. So, whine if you will but until you throw away everything you own that uses any type of power to run it, you are nothing but lip service to a problem that man is not going to be able to ever fix. Sorry about our luck...

You moron, you can't even grasp the meaning of "extreme" in the context of temperature norms.

You're an anti rational idiot. You deniers aren't contrarians, you're outliers.

You're a gap toothed, uneducated idiot who listens to particular vested sources out of your need to justify a world view about unlimited consumption and wealth and concentration of those two things.

As another poster put it (and much more succinctly than I am able to), turn off your computer and practice what you preach. Otherwise, you are nothing but another hypocrite in the mold of Al Goreleon.
