I saw this story on one of those dateline or 48 hour shows. Unbelieveable what people do. You want to believe they are innocent but when you see all the "circumstantial" evidence..........

99 years for plotting a murder? what a bunch of crap! What White male would get 99 years for the exact same thing? NONE! 99 years if she actually murdered him, but she didn't! I watched 48 hours to, there is no such thing as a white male serving this long of a sentence for accomplice to murder, but since she use to strip for a living and she is a female then it's okay, right? What a sorry azz country we live in! I have no respect for the undereducated jury and sexist judge who put this woman here, she doesn't deserve 99 years. Goes to show you, this country doesn't give a sh@t about women...still!

I believe in most of the 50 states hiring someone to kill someone is as guilty as in the death as the actual shooter ! Without someone setting the murder up you don't have the murder. Plenty of men have been sentenced to death for setting up the murder or have gotten life in prison with no parole.

Forgiven, and now I am sorry...mudslinging can be fun, but not always.
I am just so angry about this story is all, it makes me puke. It just goes to show that jurys and judges do NOT make fair assessment's in the case of women and do not care about justice in general. This woman did NOT kill this man, she was a co-conspirater yes and she deserves time in prison for it absolutelty! But 99 years? NO WAY!!!
No white males does this amount of time for co-conspiriter crimes, so why should white women serve longer sentences for the same crimes? This judge and those jurers belong behind bars for sex discrimination...say 99 years?

Thinking back to the Ray Carruth trial, he was convicted of conspiracy but not the actual murder. What a dumba s s split verdict that was. All he got was 17 years !

Nothing makes me more angry than being right when it comes to our so called "justice system". This case makes me sad and resentful. Justice was anything but objective here, it was sexist and the prosecution victimized the men like they are innocent and naive, they are not!
I knew the jury wouldn't see anything past mechele's stripping days, but the judge himself makes a quakery out of a system that already benefits white males and punishes women way too harshly, by victimizing these white males right along with the prosecution. He is sexist and does not belong in his position!
The judge and the prosecution worked together to make the public believe that this Leppink character was so innocent and naive, bs! as an ex-stripper I can tell you there is no such thing as an innocent client in these clubs! These guys are smooth, smiling snakes who know exactly what they are doing when asking for repeated table dances from girls and luring them out of the clubs with talk of money and lavish gifts. There is nothing innocent about their intentions for these girls, and don't think for a minute a stripper doesn't understand this because she does!
This sexist judge made comments about mechele because the Lippink family has money and he doesn't want future legal issues with them, I have no doubt that is a part of Mechele's lengthy sentence, the other part is because he is a sexist azzhole, who probably got cheated by a stripper somewhere in his past too, and this was his chance to get even.
Strippers bread and butter comes from everyone! Preachers, lawyers, Doctors, Judges, the blue collar crowd, you name it, we've seen them all!
Mechele was guilty of conspiring with Carlin to kill "T.T." I don't doubt it one bit, but you name one white male that gets served 99 years for the exact same crime? keep looking, you won't ever find even one! that's our pathetic system for you, and I think it is ironic that the males who wear these robes and are undeservingly put in a power of authority over other people's livlyhood, are the same ones who are considered "regulars" at the very clubs this judge is using to convict Mechele to a longer sentence than she deserves. Carlin pulled the trigger, his sentence was fair and just, Mechele did not pull the trigger and she did not "make Carlin do it." He did it all by himself. This case makes me sick.

One more thing, all males need to take accountability for their behavior when it comes to strip clubs, and all Judges and Prosecutors need to stop portraying one side as the victim over the other, nobody is a victim when it comes to the exploitation business! AND I DO MEAN NOBODY!
The judge and Prosecuter are both aware of this fact. All men and women should be aware of it too. If you go to the local strip club then you both volunteered to be at a certain club at a certain time that offers men visual fantasy's and you both participate in whatever fantasy acts you chose to take outside the club! I have never met a man who didn't understand this basic concept! All of them in my past experience not only understood it, but tried to get me to engage in it, but I was never that brave. So to cry about it and say that is not an understood thing later on down the road in a courtroom, belongs to the person who got burned or in this case killed!
These outside fantasy's are dangerous, this is also widely understood in the sex entertainment business.
Getting yourself killed is another issue altogether. The jury was very stupid here. Kent Leppink wrote a note describing who he thought might try and kill him. Are you kidding me? That tells me a lot about this guy and none of it is good!
As an ex-stripper I can tell you that there are a lot of shady character's drawn to this business, the owners, strippers and the clients! everyone is suspect here. For this "T.T." guy to grasp what he thought might happen to him tells me he was playing a very dangerous game with two very mentally unstable people and he should have removed himself from the situation, but he chose not too. The fact that he allowed Mechele to con her way into a life insurance policy tells me that she was up to no good all along and it should have occured to him too, and maybe it did, but he kept playing the head and fantasy games didn't he? He had the control to walk away at any time and yet he didn't, that tells me he knew what he was up against and didn't care. He might have thought that people would think less of him if he brought it out in the open, which it would! Then he would have to admit his part in this and I don't believe he wanted to do that. It also tells me that he knew this whirlwind fantasy he was in was dangerous because he left a note indicating he might die, huh? and yet he still wouldn't walk away, he was anything but innocent!
I can't imagine asking any man to take out a life insurance policy on himself, So I don't excuse him from any wrong doing because by leading her to believe he would give her the $ if something happened to him, knowing her for only a month at the time, he encouraged her to plot the murder and he knew this, hence the note. What was so innocent and naive about his behavior? or him continuing to play games with her? Nothing! that's what. He played just as many head and fantasy games with her as she did with him, they were both guilty! He didn't know her long enough to trust her and neither did she concerning him.
I am not saying he deserved to be killed, he did not, but I am saying I don't buy the prosecution or the judges story about how innocent and naive he was either, they are both sssoooo wrong here and I have no respect for this ruling or the lack of justice here, it praises the males and gives them an excuse when they openly chose this kind of behavior.
So all you men and women out there at the clubs, take care and take some accountability for your actions, you never know when someone might take advantage of you. There is always that point where you need to stop buying into the fantasy!

As someone who believes in justice for all, I agree with this verdict. I firmly believe that anyone who hires someone to kill someone should be held more accountable than the one who actually did the killing. Without someone setting up the hit, you don't have the crime. I don't look at it from a sexist point of view.

Now when I did some research on this, I see that women do get scr*wed more on this subject. It's the old boy network punishing the person who is supposed to be the nurturer.

You really ought to try and think things through a little more before you post. All people make threats and plan killings, but never act on them. The person who actually does the killing is always in the spotlight because they followed through. The law is very clear about this! However, if these were 2 white males instead of 1 white male and 1 white female, then the guy who planned it would have gotten a lesser sentence because he didn't carry it out.

There was a time when the conspirator was not considered part of the actual crime. Thank God the laws have changed. But I do agree that women conspirators get the raw deal come sentencing. Why ? It's because we punish them for a nurturer turned murderer. It's the old boy network that will still be around long after you and I are gone. I also think the person who sets the crime up gets as much spotlight as the actual murderer.

There was a similar case in Chicago back in the 80's Debbie something or other, ex stripper also, anyway she only got 22 years and it took quite a few years to bring her down. I thought that was outrageous. She should have gotten more time. I will try and find the case for you. I don't remember what the actual shooter got.
