"Suspected swine flu is sweeping a traditional Eskimo whaling village on a remote Alaska island"..."Omiak has not gotten sick but said many in community are fighting symptoms including runny noses and bad coughs."..."At least one person has tested positive for swine flu in a preliminary analysis."
Are you sure it's the swine flu. Not every runny nose and cough is the flu, sometimes it's just a cold. Not every flu is the swine flu. Personally I think there is just a whole bunch of fear mongering out there, driven by politicians who know little to nothing about health care and simple preventative methods. But lets pump more untested drugs into the system and appear like they care about the health of their voters. I work in various hospitals and the waiting rooms in the ER are full with people who may have flu like symptoms. They are admitted with suspected swine flu, but once its reported in the paper its all called swine flu, even though on many of the patients the test to determine the exact virus is either not done at all because it's not necessary, or the test results come back so late that the patient has already gotten better and been send home. But under Obama care it looks like there is genuine concern for the people when it is just control over peoples health beliefs. How about good old fashioned hygiene measures. Wash your hands frequently. Cough and sneeze into your sleeve instead of your hand if no tissue is available. Wash your hands after, or if no soap and water is available, use a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol. Stores and other public places should sanitize frequently touched surfaces (door knobs, light switches, shared computer keyboards, shopping cart handles, faucets etc.)more diligently. Don't forget how often money changes hands and how many bacteria and viruses adhere to it. Guess where the saying 'don't touch the money, it's dirty' comes from. So, after you have handled cash, wash or sanitize your hands, and if you can't do this right away, try to keep your hands out of your face. I am not saying these measures are fool proof, but they will go a long way. Oh, and keep a hand sanitizer by your own door at home and try to cut down on the germs in your own home. |
