Love that film! Reminded of it when finding the great clip of Marilyn Monroe and Anna Magnagni the other day (on YouTube). Here's one of my favorite scenes (and favorite quotes--"Why don't you get the caliope-and the clown-to make the announcement"):

(Other clips of The Fugitive Kind are also found on YouTube--some really great scenes--Anna Magnagni, Joanne Woodward, Marlon Brando, etc.--they were all so good in this film)

Ooops...Anna Magnani--misspelled her name twice above. The comments below the video refer to posts by Azorka82--that was me but my posts were removed automatically when closing Youtube account a few years ago.

Pardon me. And calliope is spelled with two "L"s.

I like the film very much so naturally disagree with the critical comments on Wiki. But Bosley Crowther of The New York Times has a good perspective in writing:

...."piercing account of loneliness and disappointment in a crass and tyrannical world"

Great quote by Burt Lancaster about Anna Magnani found on her Wiki page (they starred together in The Rose Tattoo):

"if she had not found acting as an outlet for her enormous vitality, she would have become a great criminal"

Anna Magnani died of pancreatic cancer...I wondered when reading that if it wasn't due in part to her living on "coffee and cigarettes" (as described elsewhere on her Wiki page).

One of my very favorite (even though I keep misspelling her name); loved Joanne woodward in the film too. Brando is great of course. Enjoyed his "One Eyed Jacks" and numerous other films of his as well.

One of the criticisms on Wiki is that Joanne Woodward was too "florid". But that's what made her character interesting.

Couldn't find the scene (on YouTube) where that bar character grabs Marlon Brando in a big hug and says something like "That jacket is spooky, Snakeskin!". It's very funny as Marlon Brando laughs along with the scene.

This is another favorite scene--though it's cut a bit short:

One more great clip--Anna Magnani is excellent in this one:

The Fugitive Kind 1959 - A Town Like This

....looked some more, unable to find the scene, where, remembering better now, that character in the bar hugs Brando and says "That snakeskin jacket is spooky, man!"; would love to see that scene again.

Can't stop viewing these clips....would love to see the film in entirety again. Here's just one more with Joanne Woodward:
