Searched Veronica liberati and found her cover of 'Io Vivro' (Mina has an outstanding performance of that one; Marcella Bella has a good cover of it too). It's really good--her voice is very impressive particularly further into the song. During the beginning it doesn't sound like she hits notes quite right, but Mina's voice cracks in numerous places when she sings it and yet her cover is fantastic. So this may be an excellent cover by Veronica Liberati--really enjoyed it.

Just viewed it again--the last quarter of the song is excellent. Veronica Liberati finishes the song really well, you get the feeling the audience is very moved by it (again, you get a similar feeling when viewing Mina's cover too).

My God. Look what Mina brings to the song:
Mina _ Io vivrò senza te _ Live 1974 video by swan5046 --the only reason I noticed her voice cracking in about 3 or 4 places is because I've viewed that video so many times. Phenomenal. And the trumpet at the end! Just fabulous--what a performance Mina gives singing that song. |

Viewed Veronica Liberati's Io Vivro once more and it's exceptional--particularly when realizing it's given in the context of an Italian version of American Idol. Wondered why she had also brought to mind Kelly Clarkson (a few of whose songs I like very much), then noticed the telephone number on the screen indicating it must be something like American Idol. And I might be too critical in saying only the last quarter of the song is excellent. Enjoyed the entire song this third time viewing. Nice find. I'll have to Google/Wiki Veronica Liberati and find out more....

Just figured it out--Mina's and veronica liberati's voices crack when singing 'Io Vivro', but Marcella Bella's doesn't. Probably because Marcella Bella sings it at a more subtle tempo.

Yeah--see, here's Marcella Bella:
Marcella Bella - Io vivrò senza te . video by LuisaMirella ....kind of like Petula Clark and Betty Curtis singing 'Invece No' at Sanremo 1965--Petula Clark comes on very strong, very emotionally, whereas Betty Curtis sings it more melodiously. Very, very interesting. Who says Inspector Clousseau never solves a mystery? |

Absolutely superb! They've gone and uploaded an improved video of Betty Curtis 'Invece No' Sanremo 1965; this one actually includes the intro w/Betty Curtis walking up to the microphone--fantastic!

Lol! Perfect. The Betty Curtis video even has the light shining through the window at the end, just like in this video (always wanted an 8X10 of that shot):

Roberta Mazzoni's Non Sai la Strada is a good cover of an old Burt Bacharach song....love her "Io Di Notte' video.
