I have personal, first-hand experience working with Karen Winters, the superintendent of Western Christian. She is an absolute disaster... to put it nicely. Unfortunately, I am not surprised by this "secret merger" to ruin the educational lives of Upland Christian students. It's all about the money with Karen. I am completely against this acquisition and support the parents, teachers, and students at both Upland Christian and Western Christian schools. Food for thought: It's interesting that the only three people that want this catastrophe to happen are Winters, Doane, and Kratz. Let's not only stop the plan... let's get these people out of power.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood..." (Ephesians 6:12). We are so blessed by the support we have received from members of the Western Christian family. We have even gotten phone calls in our office from Western Christian parents apologizing on behalf of their superintendent and assuring us that they do not support this deal. However, as a fellow Christian, let's remind each other that our battle is spiritual. We have to pray for these three individuals, that God would change their hearts and call them to repentance for the greater good and for God's glory!

The parents of both schools are the customers. It is a business. If both sets of parents are not on board with this then it would be prudent for them to unite and speak up as one voice. They should yell we are not buying it! We will take our kids out and you will have no or less customers. This my friends is how to stop this insanity. So I suggest that parents get together with the other set march up to the head of
this debacle and just say NO you will not have my tuition money and my kids. Money talks and when people remove it or say they will then you will see
it bring on the desired results.

I agree that both WCS and UCS families should protet this together! WCS has to know that over 50% of UCS parents will not be placing their children there. Families who live near the Covina campus will also not be sending their children to WCHS due to the new location. I believe that western does not anticipate the decrease in enrollment due to this.
I have friends at WCS who have stated they would rather send their kids to public school than leave then at a school where so much deceit and lying has occured. How many more parents will follow that lead?
Food for though WCS. I am pryaing for all of you.

Meeting at Upland Christian turns ugly
By Sandra Emerson on October 9, 2008 12:32 PM | Permalink | Comments (0)
Superintendent Ray Doane of the Anaheim District Church of the Nazarene, accompanied by fellow board members and their lawyers, met with concerned parents of Upland Christian Schools' students yesterday.
Doane refused to take any questions and threatened to shut the school down the the parents kept expressing their outrage about the sale of Upland Christian to Western Christian.
Doane left the meeting 10 minutes in, but returned to attempt to speak to the parents a second time.
Much information is still unclear, but he said the board is doing what they can to keep the Upland First Church of the Nazarene and the school open.

What the UCS parents and alumni have to say
By Sandra Emerson on October 9, 2008 12:38 PM | Permalink | Comments (0)
Parents during the meeting at Upland Christian Schools expressed their outrage about the way Ray Doane, Anaheim District Church of the Nazarene superintendent, conducted the meeting.
"Why can't they just open the books? That would be an answer to everything," said Laura Johnston, parent. "He wouldn't answer any questions. People just want answers."
"Everything they are saying and the way everything went down is wrongful to Upland Christian Schools," said Danny Roseberry, 2007 alumnus. "They're conniving."
"What I always loved about Upland Christian Schools is they are always fair and ethical," said Amy Payne, parent. "Nobody wants to see the school lose its fingerprint."
