I DONT blam the coyotes. the owner should of had their dog on a leash. we live in the coyotes taritory we need to learn how to live with them. Watch ur childen watch ur cats and ur dogs, but ur the one to blame if something happens. u take the risk entering a wildlife refuge or park even if its not posted. wildlife is around us 24/7. the dog in this story could of been snached by anything being that it was so small, a racoon could of snached the dog from its own back yard if it wanted to. a oposime could kill a little dog like that. a hak could swop down and do the same. its all posible. Stray dogs could do the same too.

Yes coyotes are part of the ecosystem but once their population grows too large it's time to start thinning the pack. attacks, sightings and coyote population density are all on the rise. Time for government to start earning their paycheck.......or allow private citizens to deal with the problem themselves

if it was your dog, i wonder if you would say the same thing.
if you go into a ghetto neighborhood and thugs kill your child, are you going to say its not the thugs to be blamed?

If you kill coyotes the existing coyote population has larger litters to make up for it. They can actually bounce back in greater numbers so just watch your pets and bring them inside whenever possible.

I live in Santa Ana (Harbor/Edinger), my entire yard is fenced, front and back. A coyote jumped the fence and carried my little poodle mix away. I found her minutes later, a couple houses down. She had already been disemboweled. I get the whole "coyotes have rights" thing, but this a well established neighborhood.I am going to call animal control for help controlling the coyotes in this area. I am also going to continue searching for "Ways to kill coyotes"--legally of course. Just as I need to understand that I live in their territory, they need to understand they live in mine.
