San Bernardino women die in wrong-way Anaheim crash

Two San Bernardino women were killed and three other people were injured in a head-on car crash in Anaheim this morning.

Jessica Shekell, a first-semester transfer sociology major at Cal State Fullerton was involved in a head-on collision at 3 a.m. on the 91 freeway.

Shekell, who was alone in the car, was reportedly driving down the wrong side of the freeway when her vehicle struck another, killing 44-year-old Sally Miguel and injuring 30-year-old Patricia Miguel, who later died at the hospital, according to an article in the Daily Breeze.

The collision also resulted in major injuries to Sara Miguel, 11, and minor injuries to Mary Miguel, 15.

Shekell has been hospitalized with major injuries at the UCI Medical Center. Authorities will likely charge her with driving under the influence of alcohol according to the Daily Breeze.

"Friends of Jessica", don't bad mouth people for being affected and emotional about a drunk driver. Have compassion for the victims and people may show compassion for your hurt! Two lives were lost here so GROW UP!

Yes it is true Jessica made a poor choice. Most of you that have made comments have no idea the person that she is. Our family has known her for over 15 years and she is from a great family with morales and values. She is a wonderful person that would give the shirt off her back for someone. and most of you know that the pictures that are on these young kids my space are of things that they should not be doing but they are kids and have to learn the hard way. But for all the pics that you see we have several of the other side of her that is the real Jessica. and yes this wil haunt her FOREVER!! Remember we have all done things that we thought "oh it wont happen to me" Well it does and can.Pray for all of the families.Dont name call this is really someones life both families are hurting. Dont judge people that you dont know. The gulit she has to live with is worse than any jail. And by the way "DEWEY" the Lompoc Prison is just for males. Get your fact right before you comment.

I don't know the victims in the crash but I do know Jessica. I've known her since she was 5 yrs. old. I also know first hand what it is like to have a loved one killed by another person. It truly does pain me to know there is another family out there that has to go through what we did. That pain never goes away. It also pains me that Jessica and her family are now going through what is probably the worst thing ever. The worst thing anybody can do is kill somebody. I've also worried about Jessica and her friends and their drinking and partying. I have ever since they were in high school. I don't go for the old belief that college and drinking go hand-in-hand nor do I believe that the majority of young people proudly display pictures of themselves and friends drinking for all the world to see. But it's ok, they are all good people. Yes, Jessica comes from a good family, she has many good things about her HOWEVER, the bad thing she did, that she selfishly did was to get in to that vehicle and drive on the wrong side of the freeway drunk!! That was her decision, it was not an accident. Yes, she has to live with for the rest of her life, but the one main difference is she is still alive. Two people are now dead and two more seriously injured because of Jessica's selfishness. This was something that was bound to happen, I feared and prayed it would not, that they would grow up, mature and realize that drinking is not a game. You have to be responsible!! Her age is no excuse, there is no excuse. My prayers go out to her family who are hurting beyond hurt and my heart and prayers go out to the Miguel family whose hearts have been forever shattered. PLEASE if anything especially those of you that know Jessica, learn from this!! The partying is not worth it!!!!! Don't ever drive drunk!!! Stop the partying, stop posting the drunken pictures. Realize that none of us is invincible, for Jessica, for the Miguel family ... give up the drinking. It is so not worth taking the chance of ruining not only your own lives but the lives of other people...
