This is the 3rd summer that I have lived in Shelter Bay and the noise from the Navy jets has really been intolerable. It was never this bad in the last 2 summers. When we bought our house we were never told of this noise. We moved here from out of state and didn't know about it. Does anyone know why it's so bad and will it ever get any better?

If you live in a small Navy community it will always be loud. You get used to it

Really? No one told you? How old are you? 5? It seems to me if i bought a house near a jet base I would expect, jet noise. But that's just me here in logic land.

The issue is not that there is jet noise, it is that the seller omitted that fact in their disclosure statement that you signed at time of purchase or that you did not read the statement before signing.
The only reason there is a viable economy here is the Navy. The noise is the sound of freedom.....and money. Learn to live with it.

Lol, be happy that you are hearing those noises, that means that the Navy is there. Instead of it being annoying think of it as the sound of National Security.

So how do you people of Washington feel about the idea of Fort Pickett near Blackstone, VA being converted into an outlying landing field for the U.S. Navy jets stationed at Fentress Field in Chesapeake, VA and Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA!?

Jenn, us and many other home owners are fed up with the noise from the navy jets too.
The noise from these jets is damaging to our hearing and a day to day annoyance that's getting rediculus.
These loud, inifecent and overpriced jets flying around overhead are a waste of recources and represent a prehistoric outdated military spending money and using our recources at a suicidal rate.
"The sound of freedom" I don't think so, it's the sound of a bloated military budget. Times are changing, keep records and research who to file complaints with. Not long ago a couple sued a military for close to 10 million in damages and won, we don't have to just sit here and take it like so many local navy people like to make you think.
As for us, we are leaving this noise polluted island for good and walking away from our house just to get away from the noise. It's a real downer having to hold your conversation to someone 3 feet away from you over and over every day the weathers decent.

Feel free to move!! There's a small handful of the old guard Dutch that are upset that the military goes against their hippie, peace loving ways. If they aren't protesting Bush or picketing Wall Street, there busy themselves with bad mouthing the Navy. I guess I would be upset too if I had an $850,000 beachfront home and had to hear some jets every now and then.....Not so much.

That last comment was meant for jamesjenn187. I didn't notice this, but you live in Renton? So you must be upset that your Whidbey vacation home has the noise??
I would also like to know about this $10 million lawsuit....I've lived on this crappy island since 1993 and maybe I missed it...

most of the pro people on this page are navy and already deaf. i sold a house in zone 2 noise, and was told by the realtor, i had to mark it down, because of the noise. Went i moved i made sure it was "NO" noise zone, now theres more jets flying mover in the last 5 months, than the 20 previous years. Im talking low and full throttle! I wish the people would unite! my properity tax should drop, everyone should call to have taxes reduced to anothr noise zone, that would get them moving! the navy seem to lack the disapline to stay in alotted noise zones, google whidbey island noise zones.

I agree. The noise is intolerable. I prefer the sounds of bitching Bob chanting from towers, as I kneel east and pray to Allah.

perhaps someone with greater computer knowledge than myself could get a site going? plan rallies and meeting, the navy is bringing in more strike now or drink the kool aid. ide like to see people ask about properity tax reduction because of noise, is it the new command at whidbey, or are the piolets just not able to stay in "all ready existing areas" look at the noise map, they have a lot more than the lions share of air space

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
