I applaud Chief Bryan for hiring this man. Drugs ruin lives and cause bad behavior when people are high and under the influence. Giving this man a chance in life a thousand times is worth it. Any human being. He has already been judged by his peers and I would assume has already paid his debt to society.

Now meth.

Meth is a problem. Meth kills and destroys families. Meth is the industrial technology and skilled profession of many a Vernon Parish residents. Incarceration without rehabilitation is a fruitless attempt of punishment that evolves into career criminals and drug addicts on the streets.

Vernon Parish has created a self sustaining meth manufacturing environment for those children of meth parents that know nothing but how to make meth. That is a skilled craft learned by years of living in a failing state that excels in poverty, lack of education, poor and incarceration of citizens. Each bed at a prison is handed down to the next family member as if it is an heirloom. No benefit of rehabilitation, just grass cutting for cities and mowing businesses lawns. Cheap labor disguised as punishment.

The man still hangs out with with the meth users he did before. Nothing has changed except he now cuts the city's grass and gets paid. Very nice call "Drugs."

Hell no! Legal prescription drugs kill an American citizen every 19 minutes in this country. 75 people a day. Heroin use is going through the roof in some states because legal drugs are too expensive and heroin is cheap. Ironically, heroin use has been on the rise in this country since the inception of the Afghanistan war. 90% of the worlds heroin is produced there. What are we doing about this legal menace to society? Which doctor shopper or doctor in Leesville peddles these killers to the addicted populous? Between the pill popping and the meth usage we would have to arrest 1/2 of Pitkin, 1/4 of Evans and the majority of the links in the pines residents.

How many of you right now know someone abusing prescription meds? Do they all go to the same doctor? How many people do you know that have overdosed on prescription meds? Do you know of someone that has died from prescription med overdose?

Chinese tea coupled with sugar is as addictive as most narcotics. Coffee (caffeine) is addictive and kills a few Americans every year. I guess the cost of tea or coffee could be a life.

Simply put drugs kill. Legal drugs kill at an alarming rate and are the cause of the current Heroin epidemic that spans our nation. We have wasted a trillion dollars demonizing something that can help others and imprisoned our sons and daughters without thought of consequences. Something they even do at the country club but somehow never seem to be prosecuted.

I read with interest the comments made about the man I hired to mow, edge and help clean the city. I'll even tell you his name - he is David Dickard from Anacoco and yes, he has been in trouble before with the law. But, how many of us haven't? David has given his heart to the Lord and is in church everytime the doors open. He is very conscientious, honest and is willing to help anyone that needs help. I am proud to call him a friend and I am glad I can help him put closure to his old life style. David is a great guy and I just wish you would take the time to get to know this man before you run him down or try to hold him down. He has made mistakes in his life and he has paid his debt to society. Again, I am glad to have him as a friend.

So like quiet a few we could all name, he "is in the church everytime the doors open." That is the most hypocritical crap I hear on a regular basis.

Agree Chief! Good man. A man that has paid his debt. Someone with a support group helping. Much better alternative than prison and creates responsible human beings. Thank you kind sir.

Chief Bryan, I totally agree with your statement. It makes me proud to know that there are people like you still out there. I have met Mr. David personally and I think he is a very nice respectful person. Everyone deserves to be allowed the chance to move forward in life. I am a citizen In Anacoco and I see the pride Mr. David takes in his work. I and many others are glad you all have hired him. You may catch a lot of flack for sticking up for him and giving him a chance, but know you are making a BIG difference in his life and that is what Really matters! Keep up the good work and thank you for being the kind of person that stands up for people when it matters the most.

Have you ever noticed how people hide behind fake names when they want to talk about people or run them down? I guess it is easier that way instead of telling who you really are. I think that is cheap and the ones that do that are scared to tell who they are. Any time I post something, you can count on me using my whole name. I'm not ashamed of anything i have to say, therefore I will say it in the open so everyone knows where I stand.
