I am thankful for all of the reviews actually. Cry babies or not, if you go somewhere and don't like it, and keep it to yourself, it doesn't help anyone. Same goes with GOOD reviews. I tried to get employment at Xtreme multiple times, and experienced the same disinterested attitude. It is because of the reviews that I realize I'm not the only one who sees that, and am not going to waste my time further. I don't need Ballys or Lucille Roberts franchise attention, but customer service is a big part of owning a business, and the front desk is where that starts. Sure you don't have to go back, but its helpful to hear experiences of others before ANYONE wastes their time.

I am sure my application went right in the trash even though I was outgoing, and eager. The staff seemed more interested in their phone than the person answering the help wanted ad of the establishment. It was a blessing in disguise.

Place is filled with nasty employees no doubt. When members walk in they treat them like criminals. I'm surprised they don't fingerprint members every time they train. They seem to be trained to assume every member is trying to sneak in.

The locker room is too small men's bath room floor is constantly wet. The gym is overcrowded and poorly equipped. One straight chest machine
for the entire gym. Yes one!!!!!!!!!!

Suggestions, fire the staff toss out the owner and reopen CVS....

Xtreme Gym is the best gym I have ever been to- seriously. The staff is very friendly and the gym is immaculate. Not only does the gym provide a great workout environment but it has top of the line equipment, excellent classes and one can't ask for anything more from a gym.

Everyone on this Forum complains like a bunch of B*tches. This is a gym. Go in, work out, then leave. You want a smile when you walk into a gym, go to Bally's Total Fitness, or Lucille Roberts... Cry Babies... Get a life.
I've worked in food service industry for about 7 years while I was growing up in the Bellmore/Merrick area, and there is no making you "cry babies" happy. You will always find something to complain about. If its not 1 thing its another. You know what I do, and most of the other people in this world does? After going to an establishment and I find that it does not meet my needs... I DONT GO BACK!!! Thats the reason all gyms (including Xtreme) give you a free week pass to try it out.
The only one you can blame here are yourselves...
You're right!! Why? Because thats what most people do best ..COMPLAIN!! NEVER HAPPY!!! They will complain just to comlain, nag, nag, nag, name me a gym where people are so friendly, people are there to work out, and if you do it right, that's hard work, so if your're havin a bad day ... STAY HOME.

I have belonged to several gyms throughout my life. This gym had some rude staff, not well maintained machines, cardio machines positioned so that sun completely blocked the tv screens rather than install proper shades on the windows. In addition, the only staff thats somewhat knowledgeable are the trainers, but it seems like theyre only there if they have a training appointment. For safety reasons and more, a gym should have somebody knowledgeable to assist with questions about machines and to be available. All in all, there are many other gyms in the area, unfortunately, I had to pay for a full year because of my contract, even though I was going to a far superior gym elsewhere. In addition, the service Xtreme uses for billing is as unprofessional as the gym itself.

This gym has no circulation at all. They have no windows that open and think that they will cool a whole gym down my keeping the sliding glass doors open. They have ceiling fans that just push hot moist air around. By 9am this gym is 100 degrees and the owner walks in and wonders why its empty. Try turning on the AC and people might not feel like they are going to pass out. Go at night and the walls are sweating from the heat....its really not a safe place

The girls who work at the front desk are obnoxious. The comment about the girls on facebook all the time was right- I went to ask a question a few days ago and was give the 1 second finger. She then preceded to tell me that she just broke into the guy she was seeing facebook account-
It's always so hot in there- they need to fix that.
Bathroom is clean-
If we are talking about Merrick, I would say the manager is very unprofessional. She works at Bellmore too. She is on a power trip because she has no other place she will ever be a manager. Unfortunately the staff there is trained by her and so they will never know from working there what customer service is!
The manager is rude because she has a complex and I could tolerate everything else about the gym but who wants to look at that face with the attitude when you walk into to workout and relax? She had the balls to tell me that I owe money from 4 years ago even though her boss signed us up and I have been a member in Merrick for the last 10 months again. Very condescending and disrespectful witch! She should not be at the front desk of any establishment; especially when the owner is looking to get customers!

The staff in the Merrick location is the rudest you will ever meet. They make up policies whenever they feel like it. Most recently two friends of mine printed out the guest pass to use for a free trial week. When they arrived they were told they could get the passes that day but could not use them until the next day. This is not the case in any other Xtreme Gym location. They were also told since their address was not Bellmore or Merrick they were not eligible to get a pass. This is absolutely ridiculous since they live in Wantagh 8 minutes from the gym.
The manager is very rude and disrespectful. The owner needs to know that having a manager like that "K" is BAD for business. I am saying this as a business owner for 15 years.

Although I agree the staff in Merrick is rude with little to no knowledge you must remember it's a gym. From someone who works out there several times per week i find it quite clean. My issue is with the trainer who smokes outside and yells inside at the soccer moms. He looks like he has "jailhouse tatts". Besides that, machines do work fine, stop the madness. Can't we find the good in everyone.

P.S. if you think they are rude, go check out the convicts over at any NYSC...they suck!

If you wanted to get ripped then this is the wrong place. The only thing you will get there is ripped off. I sent letter in mail to cancel my membership after it expired and I am still being charged for me and my wife's monthly dues even though we no longer live in the area and use the gym. Anybody else having this problem?

Sour puss employees abound at the Merrick location, probably because the owner is King Sour Puss. Rude, obnoxious and non-customer service oriented from the top on down. Cardio machines do have TVs but virtually none of them work despite repeated complaints to the sour puss staff and owner. A/C is rarely on so the place is very stuffy. I hate the owner, the staff and the arrogance of the place. The one highlight: they have a 91 year old "Master Trainer" that looks like the Mayor of Munchkinland on steroids. He's a sour puss too but I laugh my ass off every time I see him "training" someone. The owner just opened up the Red Mango in the same shopping center. The place is filthy. Hope the Nassau County Board of Health shuts it down.

I've been working out at extreme for almost a year and realized it is not the staff who has a problem, it is the unfriendly rude members who expect to be treated like they are better than everyone else and deserve special treatment.

I've been here for a few years and I am finally fed up with this garbage of a gym. The staff is terrible, unfriendly, unfocused, and in their own little world. Expect an attitude when dealing with them and don't expect help. want to bring a friend for a day? it's going to cost them $15.00. It's almost as if they want to deter people from joining. The gym is small and crowded, especially the terrible free weight section, and unventilated. If there is a broken machine, don't expect it to be fixed for weeks. I personally enjoyed the "broken down" water fountain that took WEEKS to fix. Drink sales go up much? Also they lock you in with a contract and will squeeze every penny they can out of you. Go spend your hard earned money at another gym. I hope this place closes down. This isn't run like a business its run like someone's basement where you have to pay to get in. T-r-a-s-h

Why can’t you hire a reliable resource to open on time? Passed the Bellmore location this morning at 7:30 a.m. and it was closed.

I was a member in the gym when it was Gold's and never complained. I liked the gym even though the new owner Neil never did anything too it. I still never complained, but see that he is opening up gyms all over and not doing anything to this one, so myself and the others members were getting a little irritated. The customer service/managers have a lot to learn, but unfortunately they will not learn it from the owner who has no customer service skills, nor does he care. I have seen & heard new customers try to come in with a guess pass to try out the gym and they were denied. I have never seen people treat their customers this way. Then last week, I get a text from my buddy that the gym is closing in a day. I said I was there all week and did not hear anything, nor did they post anything. That goes to show you that they dont care about anyone. It was also nice to see the owners cloths/Dirty Laundry/Mattress sitting in the MMA room which was ridiculous. I dont know how he could not say, let me at least cover the windows in there. I will never give this guy my busines every again. You want to treat your customers like garbage, go ahead since I will not be one of them. Moving on and I know a lot of other people doing the same, so best of luck! Keep buying gyms and treat your customers like crap.

I live 2 minutes from the extreme in bellmore. After seeing these posts I did a little research.

Needless to say, I joined the Gold's Gym in Bellmore. The staff is friendly and helpful. The machines are all in working order. Everything you need in a gym. Oh, and the price is right.

Yes, I know a few people there and it is a decent gym so you should be happy. I am glad you took the advice of myself and the others on here. Like I said, I rarely complain, but the funny thing is that every person I meet or know has the same comments. It is unreal!
Not only that, but I heard this weekend that a lot of the supplement suppliers were not paid for their products. This came from not one, but at least 2-3 credible people. I think in the future, we will all read of the next Ponzi type scam but instead of the Financial Industry, it will be one in the Fitness Industry!
Something does not add up. Enjoy Gold's.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Virgo

Keep a pinch of salt handy today because not everything you hear will be the gospel truth. Someone might have manipulated the facts to make them sound more acceptable, or they may have got carried away and forgotten to tell you something rather vital. Try to keep misunderstandings to a minimum by being as straightforward and honest as possible, and by not simply assuming that people know what you're talking about and therefore not bothering to explain properly.
