A North Amityville man was shot while sitting on his front stoop early Monday morning, the Suffolk police said.

Sitting "In" his front stoop? That must meen the stoop steps are made of glass, and that he must have a special door to access his stoop in order to sit inside it. Where is Newsday hiring their reporters and proof editors from? My God, basic High School Newspapers and Journalism classes would catch this silly error.
