"I take issue with the letter writer who attacked Bristol Palin's abstinence advocacy . Palin is using herself as an example to show young people what can happen when they behave irresponsibly. Perhaps the letter writer also wishes to condemn those who have been stricken with cancer as a result of smoking and who choose to tell others not to use tobacco?

Damian Geminder"

Perhaps the original letter writer felt, as quite a few people did, that Bristol Palin's latest appearance arguing in favor of abstinence seems just a tad bit disingenuous. After all, it was only a couple of months ago when she appeared on Greta Van Susteren's show on FOX News saying that, although the best option to prevent teen pregnancy was abstinence, it just wasn't realistic.

Richard Dunlop's letter about the Nassau Coliseum betrays a terrifying lack of knowledge of the overall process. The issue, that I proved through a very simple financial calculation, is that Charles Wang can't make back the money AT ALL if he just builds a new Coliseum, given the $400 million price tag. It's funny that people complain about "taxpayers getting screwed" with the Lighthouse (they're not), and then in the same breath expect a businessman to act like Santa Claus. Is it me?

take the islanders and go... there is no way mr wang can expect a new arena, and he certainly isn't going to attempt to foot the bill by himself. it was nice while it lasted....but, with the economy as it is, there are many more important areas for any money available for use.....

Do you know who would be a great advocate for abstinence?
Someone who actually has abstained from sex.
Do you know who would be a great advocate for staying away from drugs?
Yeah. I think you know where I'm going.

Richard,

The idea behind the LH project is to make Wang money. He is a business man and he wants to make money. Do you have problem with that? The reason for all the other aspects to his development is that he wants to make money. I am sure that if he could make money off the NVMC renovation only that is all he would do but unfortunately hed have to put all the money into renovation becuase the county can't afford to. Add that to the fact that he has one of the worst arena leases in all of pro sports gets you to the LH project. Now I only mention the benefits it would bring Charles Wang the person imagine what the project would bring to Uniondale, the TOH, the entire county.

They are trying to get money from the stimulus for infrastructure and that is it. Other then a fund set up over 15 yrs ago in the state with the intention of redoing the NVMC Wang and Rechler will be paying for the entire thing by themselves. If you have any evidence proving contrary id appreciate it if you can post a link.

it's astounding how wrong richard dunlop is. why would charles wang spend million of dollars remodeling a building that he doesn't own? he would be doing nassau county's (who own the building) job for them. this is america too, right, where you have the right to try to make as much money as possible? it's what made this country great. it's astounding to think that dunlop thinks that wang has bullied the corrupt town of hempstead, when in reality it's the other way around. wang has incurred millions of losses owning the islanders. while this hasn't translated to much success on the ice, his heart is in the right place. the visionaries that dream big made this country great. the lighthouse project is a project that will get long island's economy and civic pride going in the right direction - and it will be privately financed!. we need it. hopefully nimby's like richard dunlop eventually see the light. if they don't long island is in an enormous amount of trouble.

How typical it is that the Palin women resort to name-calling…especially MEN. How long will it be before Bristol refers to Levi as "impotent" or implying that he has no "cajones"? What kind of examples for any age of females are they? In Sarah's emails she complains about Jewish Republican Rep. Ramras by vulgarly calling him names like "Vajayjay" and "Jay Bird-Nose Ramras", and then goes on with her usual derogatory sexual undertone to suggest to keep her teenage daughters "away from the likes of Jay" and "Maybe Jay's missing his little lady and feels frustrated lately. I'll have to keep him away from Bristol". How many times has Sarah insinuated that someone who criticizes or just doesn't like her is yet another sexual predator? This woman who thinks she should be the most powerful person in the world with her crude, hostile, bilous, anti-semitic mean girl language has some serious mental problems and needs a full psychological evaluation. Bristol if you keep on this way you will need one too. Not to mention that one day your baby will grow up and read your trashy book about the life story of your choochie all for the purpose of slamming his father "the gnat" - against court orders.
