Katies of Smithtown may very well be haunted, but what Paranormal State showed was deceptive. They put powder on a table and a glass in the powder. When they checked the glass had moved, but what they didn't say was that there is an active railroad track just behind the bar and the movement could have been caused by trains going by. They also heard banging noises while sitting on the bar, but what they didn't tell you is the ice machine was turned off and the banging sounds could have been caused by ice falling from the top of the ice machine. Don't belive everything you hear on TV.

I've visited most of these places as a teenager. Just curious about the Massapequa "Hell House"...they don't mention anything about the people who live there. Wonder if they know there house is called "hell house"! I'd be so interested in knowing who these people are.

my mother had sold something to the current owners of the Amityville horror house and in conversation he said that there is absolutely no truth to the hauntings there. he's lived there for many years and has never experienced anything. He thinks the people who wrote the book were liers looking to make money.

We are Roman Catholics being abused on the internet by very immoral and evil people ... we just recently found out that very immoral and evil people have been spreading all sorts of lies over the internet about us and calling our private home "hell house" ... they are "so evil" that they are sreading lies and rumors that "passing by our house will lead to death" ... what immorality!!!...

Are these evil people Christian's?... and if not ... what type of other religion would teach such evil?... a list of all the websites still slandering and defaming our good name and causing vandalism damage to our home is being compiled for our attorneys ... all these immoral people will pay for their evil deeds!!!

To all the hateful and immoral people out there ... Be warned!!... You will pay dearly for your evil deeds!... A jury in Florida has awarded a woman $11.3 Million dollars in costs and damages after slurs were made ruining her character on an internet talkboard. She had been subjected to 10 months of ugly criticism on the internet. The award is the largest verdict of its sort relating to individual postings on bulletin boards or blogs and was handed down by a jury in Broward County, Florida. The sum included $5 Million in punitive damages.

He is right- the Lutzes who wrote the book did so because they knew they could make money. They reference a priest from the Nassau Diosese having come to the house in the book - but the diosese denies ever having sent a priest to them. They made themselves very rich writing that Defeos (not sure of spelling) whose som murdered all of his family inthe house . THAT was the only horror in the Amityville Horror.

We know what our home is called: it is called "Cafaro Castle" ... and for your information there are many such castles on Long Island ...

I list a few below:

Otto Herman Khan built a Castle as his LI residence in 1914 and called it OHEKA CASTLE ... Paul James Cafaro built a Castle as his LI residence in 1978 and called it CAFARO CASTLE ... Mr. B Moore built CHELSEA CASTLE in 1923 located in Muttontown ... there is the BELVEDERE CASTLE on Fire Island ... GOULD CASTLE in Port Washington ... DANHEIN CASTLE in Millbrook ... COINDRE HALL CASTLE in Huntington ... WILZIG CASTLE in the Hamptons ... EAGLE's NEST in Centerport ... BEACON TOWERS CASTLE ... etc., etc. and that is just on Long Island ...

In the State of New York you can find these other Castles:

WING'S CASTLE, BOLDT CASTLE, DICKS CASTLE, SINGER CASTLE, JORSTADT CASTLE, BANNERMAN CASTLE, WARDS CASTLE, COINDRE HALL CASTLE, CASTLE GOULD, DANHEIN CASTLE, LYNDHURST CASTLE, TARRYTOWN CASTLE (CASTLE ON THE HUDSON), OHEKA CASTLE, CAFARO CASTLE, WILZIG CASTLE, BEARDSLEE CASTLE, YADDO CASTLE, WICKWIRE HOUSE CASTLE, ROCKFONTHILL CASTLE, REID HALL CASTLE, MAKEBELIEVE CASTLE, BELVEDERE CASTLE, WOODCLIFF CASTLE, ROCHROANE CASTLE, ROE BREWSTER CASTLE, ROSS CASTLE, OSBORN CASTLE, ERICSTAN CASTLE, CEDAR LAWN CASTLE, BEACON TOWERS CASTLE, LELAND CASTLE, THE CLOISTERS, WILLIAMS CASTLE, KINGFISHER TOWER CASTLE, LITCHFIELD CASTLE, SKENE MANOR CASTLE, CHELSEA CASTLE, STONE CASTLE, HELDERBERG CASTLE, SMITHS CASTLE, THE MANSION CASTLE, CRAIG-E-CLAIRE CASTLE, GELSTON CASTLE, STEINHEIM CASTLE, OECHSNER CASTLE, WARNER CASTLE, YATES CASTLE, BODINE CASTLE, LOWERY CASTLE, WHITBY CASTLE, HILLIG CASTLE, HOFFMAN CASTLE, PATERNO CASTLE, IONA CASTLE, SCHLOSS VON TANNENACER CASTLE, TIEDEMANN CASTLE, FORT TOTTEN CASTLE, EASTFAIR CASTLE, AMSTERDAM CASTLE, MULLER'S CASTLE, DOLCE TARRYTOWN HOUSECASTLE ON THE HILL, DANSVILLE CASTLE, WAPANAK THE CASTLE BY THE SEA ...

Then do a Google search for "Castles in America" and you will find many thousands of castles exist in almost every State of the Nation ...

but has anyone who has lived there after the lutzes been catholic? it seems like anytime you hear of a haunting the people being haunted are catholics.

Personally, I think the owner of Cafaro Castle would be better suited if he and family come out and explain the reason for building it and why it looks the way it does. People will not harass the owners nor call it a "hell house" if they realize it is a normal, family dwelling (just a bit out of place). I would hate all the negative publicity and attention, especially if the family is devote Christ followers. While I am guilty of driving by once while in town at night, the house looks a bit spooky. However, during the day, it looks like a work of art. The architecture is far superior to the rest of the neighborhood. I would love to know what it looked like prior to the renovation as well as why the family chose to make it look the way it does.

YOU ARE NOT THE REAL OWNER OF THE HOUSE! Not sure what kind of ulterior motive you have. On a posting on Flickr, you also claim to be the owner of the house, but then posted a link to the Cafaro Winery which you claim to own. The problem is, Paul Cafaro, the owner of the winery has lived in California since the 1960s! How could you then claim that you are him, and live in Massapequa??!

Pretty weird if you ask me. So who owns this place? If you are really trying to build a castle why build it on such a small parcel of land?
