NAACP plans possible suit in Tangipahoa

NAACP officials announced plans Monday to ratchet up pressure on the Tangipahoa Parish School Board to address alleged discrimination in hiring and treatment of students and disparities in funding for students.

In this area of the world, color still matters. We as black people have not reached the point of equality yet. Thank God for NAACP. Because of my light color and green eyes, have been mistaken for white. I could not believe how racial whites still are in this area.It is a time out for all of this nonsense. One race is not better than the other, but we are still treated that way....if we allow it. I do not allow it. Very proud of my heritage and its time we get our just dues.

Just by your comment, it tells me that you feel people of color are not qualified. No one is saying to hire by color, but to give those of color the same consideration you do for whites. You have a very small mind if you cannot grasp the importance of this and what is trying to be accomplished. Blacks are intelligent human beings....we do not walk with a cotton sack on our back anymore.......

I was born in 1991 not 1851. I have never been racist and pride my self on not being racist. However if i was not given a job based on being white how is that not racist towards me I would be furious. I have many black friends and they do not act this way towards me. This is reverse racism and all your doing is creating more racist in the world.

Affirmative action allows preferential treatment in job hirings and post-secondary schooling, but now, I have to bus my child to a majority black school away from where I live, so you non-racist blacks can feel you're equal. Have you ever thought that the white people are racist because the black people have everything handed to them. I am sorry, but where I live, whites look down on blacks because of the way they act---they are loud, dirty, stupid, and most are drunken trouble makers---let me guess this is the white persons fault--right--we oppressed them for so long? Whites owe blacks nothing and what they do get from medicaid and welfare in the state of Louisiana, they can consider to be their "dues." If blacks here would try to be law abiding citizens and try to do something to improve/better themselves then I would not look down on them---until then, I will live my life knowing that I am the better person (and that has nothing to do with the color of my skin--it has everything to do with my willingness and desire to succeed in life).

Well, now the whole world sees what is in Tangipahoa Parish. The idea is to get away from such to make it better for all. How do you feel the majority of blacks are on medicaid and welfare. You should check the statistics on this one. You may be surprised to see how many blacks are NOT on subsidies, and are educated and working in Tangipahoa Parish!!!!!!

The NAACP started their shit a few years in St Helena Parish next door forcing the school system to either bus the kids to equal out the black/white ratio, or consolidate the schools. The solution for a small, poor rural parish... consolidate the schools... one elementary, one middle, and one high school all in Greensburg... the middle of the parish. All 3 schools were ancient and outdated, and they let a fine newer school in Pine Grove, LA rot down. The result of the NAACP lawsuit? The whites pulled out of the school system and either (1) sent them to better, expensive private schools, or (2) sent them across the parish lines to Livingston Parish or Tangipahoa Parish schools. Another result of the NAACP lawsuit... there has not been a single school tax passed in St Helena Parish in over 10 years!

PS... Don't you think that the money that the school system is spending on the lawyers to fight the NAACP and ACLU could be better used to teach our kids? I believe that the schools should counter sue the ACLU and the NAACP for twenty times their legal fees (and get the money!) every time they get into a lawsuit!
