Amherst County deputy involved in shooting placed on leave

Amherst County authorities said today that a sheriff's deputy who fired into a vehicle and wounded a man in a grocery store parking lot Friday afternoon has been placed on administrative leave, a routine procedure.

Why has this story fallen off the news radar? something smells in amherst county and it is coming from the sheriffs dept.

I live in Newport News and was a former resident of Amherst' polygraph' County for 10 years. I posted here and it was removed. Amherst was the nearest thing to a 'Police State' I have ever witnessed, well, maybe NY.
My college roomate was rounded up once. We went to LC and were roomates off college. One night about 7 pm a loud knock nearly tore my apt door down, Amherst Investigator, not even with a badge, ID, nothing,,,could have been a home invasion as far as I knew at the time, asks,"Are you____?" No, that's my roomate. "Can I come in(while physically nudging the door open). No. Just then, my roomate drove in the yard, was asked to get out and come with some deputy or inv Higgeins or something. 2 hours later, my roomate returned. He has a clean record because he had a security job as well, which is where he was comming from.
Long story short--he was interrogated, no lawyer, rights, about, according to him, credit card theft in the area. He was a suspect. He wouldn't take a dime, that's why I let him move in. Little did this inv know that his father was the former Atty Gen of Wisconsin, and was sending him to LC.
2 DAYS LATER WE GOT A CALL FOR HIM TO TAKE A POLYGRAPH WHICH IS NOT ALLOWED IN COURT IF YOU PASS. HE SIMPLY...called his father, and he was livid. All of the sudden. No more nothing. OH, by the way, it was someone from a trailor park stealing mail from boxes at an old dead end street and using the cards I found out later.

NEWS, Amherst County- Deputy shoots unarmed 68 year old (2 shots fired) in crowded Food Lion Parking lot. Back on the job!! No charges filed against wounded man or deputy.

I live in Elon @ was in MH one Saturday picking up a Rx at a local pharmacy there. A man in fronyt of me complained, in a normal manner, about his Rx being incorrectly filled. The man behind me pushed me aside and said to him, "How would you like to spend the weekend in jail(paraphrase)?" He was an Amhersrt county deputy off duty trying to escalate a problem that was none of his buisness. The man who was given the wrong dosage was simply bringing it to the cashiers' attention and pharmist. They are nuts, I agree...

There is a lot, imo, police corruption in small counties. Many of the local county residents have little education. Once in a while, as you see here, a deputy bullys the wrong person;Someone that's educated. Sad for such a beautiful part of Virginia.
