The special did not really reveal anything more than what is already known. It does clearly display the lack of coordination between the State Police, FBI, Haverhill PD and the University of Massachusetts Police Department. It also shows how a State, such as New Hampshire, can do whatever they wish in an investigation and are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act in an open case. The show did not clarify the position of the New Hampshire Private Investigators group and their refusal to give Fred Murray any update on what they found out over the last year and half. He is a frustrated man and I absolutely do not blame him.

Maura Murray was definitely driving that Saturn on 2/9/04 in Haverhill NH. Her parking sticker should have sent an immediate alert to Sgt. Cecil Smith (now chief of police in Haverhill) That although the car was registed to Fred Murray, with what the contents of the car were Maura must have been behind the wheel and he should have contacted the Murrays immediately. I know Rte. 112 and it is very dark and winding. She could have walked or run for miles and not been seen especially in the dark clothes that she was wearing.

Lastly, there is no question that the State Police dropped the ball on this one. They should have been searching from the minute that they arrived. The local police should also have been searching from the description from the bus driver on what Maura Murray said about the phone call to AAA, that she could not have made, and her condition. 12 degrees outside, pitch black on rte. 112, obvious head injury from the windshield, should have made them send out an immediate alert on the driver. If they had done their jobs correctly, Maura Murray might be home with her family.

Lets not forget also that if Maura hadn't refused the SBD's help or had walked to one of the five houses in plain view or had just stayed at her vehicle she might be home with her family. It was evident that she did not want to be helped or found that night.
Also since it is said the air bag went off how would she have hit the windshield with her head?

I don't think Maura would have jumped into a car w/ a stranger. I think the officer may have come by and she probably got a ride with him back to headquarters so that she could make a call. There is NO reason why the officer would not have looked for her had he seen the accident, open containers of liquor, wine on the snow and a cracked windshield. That spells ARREST all over it and in Haverhill, that would be big news. I think a cop may have grabbed her. Being a nurse myself and having gone through nuring school, you are not allowed absences unless you are hospitalized, dead, or have a death in your family. You'll be kicked out of the nursing program where thousands of students are waiting to enter the program. they don't take any excuses. Had Maura not planned on returning, she would never have emailed her nursing professors. She would have just left.

It just seems that because her scent ended abruptly from where she disappeared, it seems logical that she got into a car w/ someone. One other thought is that she was running down the street to get to the gas station and someone creep hit her and put her into his car. Maybe when Billy got the call and it sounded like she was whimpering etc, she was in trunk after being hit etc. Maybe the person has her or unfortunately caused her bodily harm.

What gas station? There is no gas station going east. What are yout talking about? She had numerous houses within view. She did not know this road at all according to her father. Billy never got the call the until many hours later. If she had been hit by a car, someone would have probably known in the 10 minutes. She would not have been making an impossible call that morning after having been hit by a car the night before. I was there today. There is no service unless she got to a very high spot or someplace on rte 91. A call from the trunk of a car from there is ridiculous.

According to her father she was very familiar with this road.

That is not what he said. Check the program. She knew 302 not route 112. She knew the area but not that road. He said that she should have taken 302 which she knew. I will be there again on her route tomorrow morning at daybreak.

Now to get to what is really important. There are a ton of very strange living people within 50 miles of the accident. I went to the Mink Hills near Hillsborough and there are many, many, hermit-like people living in that area. They are living in isolated truck related, hermit like, hidden, isolated ?homes?. Two of them killed two people at the town offices in Newbury NH about 10 years ago because of a tax bill. After talking to people in the area it leads me to believe that there is a "possibility" that someone could have her in this area. I was not a believer until I spent today searching this area and learned what I learned. These are dangerous, strange people. The "keep out" signs are everywhere. With property under "current usage" which makes things tax cheap and does not allow these signs, there is extreme suspicion here.

Wasn´t that in 1993? Albro killed himself, so what´s this gotta do with Maura? Is your point just that locals are weird enough to kidnap and/or kill any passerby, or do you have more specific information?

There is a gas station/store right on 112. Directly across from the Mountain Lakes region properties sign which is right down the hill from where Maura's car was struck. I know first hand, I have a home in Mountain Lakes. Why does it seem so far fetched that she tried to make a call from a trunk of a car or something of that nature. If I were stranded and I was a excellent track/field runner, I'd run down the street to the gas station for sure. I think there is even a pay phone too. Not 100% sure.

There is not much on this road. She would have passed the gas station/store on her left hand side a minute prior to the crash. You can't miss the store.

No Hannah,

February 9 2004, Muara Murray never was seen after an accident in Haverhill NH. The point is that there are some very strange hermit type people up in this area who could have captured and taken Maura and nobody would know. There are very few options other than suicide that make any sense than this. However, after having done a good deal of investigation of the area, there are some very good indications that there are some possibilities which do not lead to suicide and that she could possibly be alive after all these years.

You are making this sound like Deliverance,
NH style. Getting to the gas station is no more far fetched than being kidnapped by the local 'hermits', MDW. If she were alive I'm sure she'd contact someone she loved, who, in their right mind, wouldn't reach out to a father she spent so much time with, a boyfriend she was going to marry, friends she was so close with.

Intertown Record, Sutton NH... The first five arrests were for people without licences. I drove by at least twenty trucks and automobiles in these hills that have either no stickers or painted patches to match the years. Trust me there are a ton of hermit like people in this 50+ mile area. These guys could be and are in the hills for a very long time without knowing how, who or with whom they are living. They are weird, strange people. Could they hide a hman being for a long period of time. Bet it! Lastly the are violent if you go on their posted land which I made the mistake of doing over the weekend.

It was not what I was looking to see when I spent the time there. I am heading back on Thursday through the weekend. I am a former federal investigator who does not get surprised often. Let me tell you, I was not surprised but rather shocked at what I saw up there and I have a home in the middle of this crap. I now know what Treasury Agents see in the south.

She disappeared On Monday February, 9 2004 at about 7:45 PM. The traffic near the area is minimal with the exception of the extention of White Mountain Community College who has some classes being released from their Woodville High School location at 7:45. Someone from those classes, I would wager, took route 112 following those classes. They would have to have seen something. Nobody has ever mentioned that in anything that I have read and I have read most of it.

I kind of agree with you MDW. I have spent some time in very rural Vermont and inbreeding was very prevalent for one. This as I said was a very rural area way up north.
Getting to NH yes there are parts as you describe. AND there are weird people no matter where you go today. I definately think Maura was picked up,,,,the dog lost her scent 100 yards from her car in the roadway. And those dogs can be quite good.
I just hope someday we will know what actually happened.
I feel so bad for her family and friends,,,I really do not know how I would cope being in her fathers place.

She obviously had a plan. She obviously was alcoholic. She has a family that is in complete denial. It is highly unlikely that just after her
accident, on a bitter cold night, on a remote
county road, a degenerate happened by and took her.
It just doesn't compute in this case.

Despondent yes. Afraid of being arrested for the accident, absolutley. An alcoholic... nothing from her past indicates that to be the case.It was not a bitter cold night for the area. I have read the book that she had with her which was her favorite about people disapearing in the White Mountains twice. People just do not disappear from the roadway without leaving some type of evidence from the roadway. There was no evidence that she walked or ran off the roadway. The Trooper should never have left the area without finding some some sign of her. It was a mistake which leaves the possibility of foul play a distinct possibility. I believe that to be the case.

The people from White Moutain Community College taking evening courses need to be investigated. The students taking the courses there have records that have to be available from their transcripts.
