Amherst: Guantanamo detainees welcome here

A Massachusetts town has voted in favor of inviting two men detained at Guantanamo Bay military prison to resettle in the community, if they are ultimately cleared of terrorism ties and released.

You're right,the people at Guantanamo were detained for a reason.That said,it's been well documented that some of the detainees were rounded up in all of the hysteria and payoffs that went to the Northern Alliance when we decided to invade Afghanistan.Do you think that maybe some old fueds were settled with the bribes?If there are terrorists down there then show the evidence to a military tribunal or jury and decide what punishment they should get. You can't put people in cells for eight years and call them a threat without any type of judical process.This country was founded on the rule of law and we should let that work.I'm sure this post should draw out the wingnut trolls.

Right. Give them swift military tribunals. They DO NOT fall under the protection of our constitution OR Geneva. If they were found to have taken arms against America shoot them dead in their cells. If not, return them to their country of origin regardless of their standing with that government. Bringing them here and giving them OUR rights and lawyers paid by our tax dollars is treasonous!

I have heard these moonbats from Amhearst in sound bytes saying stuff like they hate the American flag because it is a symbol of war and occupation, etc. They are true whackos.

"Send them back to their place of capture." Not to the Streets of the United States. These people were captured for a reason. The military didn't just walk through a town in Iraq or Afghanistan and randomly capture people for just being in the same place as them. I know this for a fact because, I was there for 18 Months and was involved in capturing many of these people. I watched many of them shoot at us with small children wihin arms length of them so that we wouldn't shoot back and when we did, they painted us as evil people that wanted to kill their children. I'm sorry if I have no compassion for these people. But, unless someone has been there and captured some of these people, they have no idea what has happened. What makes it even worst, I know that the POTUS knows what happens, he gets briefed on it and get intricate details that no one else gets (like the Press). Yet, he caves to the Political Pressure of the far left and their "Hug everyone even if they want to kill you" agenda.

That's 1 thing that I respect GWB for, he went the course and did whatever needed to be done regardless of the political pressure. He wasn't worried about how he would look, he was worried about how safe America was and he kept our soldiers safe. He at least understood that we aren't fighting in conventional wars, we are fighting an enemy that doesn't follow the rules and is in many cases unidentifiable in the field. They are dead bent on ending the American way of life and are even willing to die to do it.

So, dealing with Gitmo detainees will be a time consuming process. But, let the Military do what they do best and they will continue to keep you safe and definitley don't allow them to be free on the streets of America under any circumstances.

Hey, why not? They allow Domestic Terrorists to teach at Colleges. Look at Bill Ayers. But, he blew those post offices and recruiting stations up so long ago and no one got killed - right? So, what's the big deal? Good thing McVeigh is dead. Otherwise, he'd be speaking next.

What are they supposed to speak on anyway? 101 uses for fertilizer and ammonia? Where are they going to park their box trucks too? Maybe they can park them at the State House and have "Do Nothing Deval" drive them to Amherst in his SUV or fly them there in a State Police Helicopter.

Just don't let them take the controls near tall buildings....
