Be prepared Ames.....Story City area has recieved about 4" so far...and it's still raining. Several streets are flooded, park is completely flooded, golf course is going under. Skunk river is rising rapidly...and it's all heading toward Ames for the morning. It could be a quality flood.

Several streets were over-run with streams of water and ponding from the ISU campus out towards NW Ames at 11PM. The Cyride buses barely made it through. Drivers beware.

Live north of Boone with south fork of Squaw Creek in my backyard -- we've had 5in. of rain as of 11pm, still raining as of 1am, and now in another TStorm warning for storm coming up from the south. All of this water is now headed towards ISU -- please be safe and think before you drive thru the water!!

4th Street and Lincoln way by the intramural fields across from jack trice is blocked off,
S 16th street is blocked off midway by the trailer homes,
6th Street by brookside park is blocked off,

3:45 AM and I just looked at the River Gages website for the Riverside Drive gage station. They have now updated the forcasted crest to 23' at 7 AM. This is more than 2 foot higher than the 1996 record crest of 20.89 feet. Look out Wal-Mart, Target, and all the other South Duff businesses...this is one for the record books!

University Blvd from 4th to Haber is closed, water is spilling onto the street and lincoln way infront of Maple.
Stange is closed from 13th to the next block, flooding on the street there.
4th street intersection that had a little bit of water is now spilling rapidly into the intramural fields across the street.

I know this is extreme rain, but its been happening too long. I feel for people, but come on. Its like Cedar Rapids couple years ago. They all knew it was coming but didn't prepare. I feel for them but, some of its there own fault. I heard Enterprise Rental car lost 5 cars. Come on, your ina flood plain. I was told the manager chose not to come in last night. This is senseless loss. All these people driving through the water will cry when there cars junk the motor, DUH, don't drive through it. If you want to see the devastation, go on web. Don't go and gawk. I know I'm coming off as harsh, but you gotta try you cant just let it happen.
